Cable modem help

So I have an arris all in one modem from time warner cable and while I get pretty high connection speeds I've noticed that over the past few weeks sites timeout or dons lookup issues occurs.
Should I replace this modem with one I purchase myself? If so which modem brand and model should I buy? Btw I already have a nighthawk x8 on order so I'll be bridging the modem to the router.
If I shouldn't replace this modem what are some other things i can do? Change Dns entries? Something else?

Definitely get a Motorola Surfboard modem. Make sure it can handle the speeds you are paying for.
