I'm overseas and all I have at the moment is my MacBook Air.

Hangouts, but it'll show up as an unknown number to the receiver.

Skype isn't free for regular calls to cell phones, but it is pretty cheap. Last time I had to call India it was like 2 cents a minute.

Thanks. I was under the impression both parties had to have Skype for it to work. I'd have to walk my Dad through that, and it's more trouble than it's worth if that's the case.

Does your dad have an iPhone? you can do FaceTime if so.

Yeah, Google Hangouts is a good option.
