Was given a large inflatable screen and was curious what the best projector to use for an outdoor set up would be. Not looking to spend a great deal of money on this as it will just be used for casual outdoor viewing, but also want it to not look like crap. I've looked on amazon and found a few, but most of the ones <$400 have a very wide range of reviews.

Any suggestions?

Planning on using an apple tv for my input, any advice about sound options would be appreciated as well.

TIA

I would think you would need a better one for outdoors as opposed to indoors. Maybe and older model with alot of lumens?

Right, most of the stuff I've read said it needs to be at least 2000 lumens.

I have an Epson 2030 in my living room. It's $500 right now online and at best buy. 2000 lumens, 3d capability. I've had it for 3 years now, bulbs are only $99, 3d glasses are $20. Ive had to change the bulb twice with heavy use.

Don't expect to use it in broad daylight though.

For outdoors in the daytime you need the highest Lumens you can get. and it will likely still look like shite.

Ok, even under a tent you think it will be poor quality?

May just save it for outdoor movie nights or something with the kids then.

Yeah, some family members have an older one, and a guy in our neighborhood has one too. Both are awesome after dark, and tolerable around an hour before sunset, but you're not going to see it all that well tailgating in the sun.
