I've been away from this sort of thing for too long. Anyone have a recommendation on the best wearable activity tracker...I know fitbit used to be the one....

I don't know what's the best but I use fitbit.

I have a fitbit charge HR and a fitbit Aria scale.

It all seamlessly syncs to myFitnessPal where I track my food intake as well.

I have a fitbit Alta. I had the Charge, but the strap started peeling away from the tracker and they replaced it with the Alta for me. My wife and daughter have the Garmin VivoFit2. I like the app and interface of the Fitbit more than the Garmin. But I like how theirs are swimproof and have a replaceable battery. A basic watch battery and they have had them about a year now on the original battery. I have to charge mine up every week or so, and I could wear it in the shower but I take it off. I definitely can't swim in it.

I'm not sure what all models have which features, but I love how the Alta will show incoming calls, text messages, and calendar/reminders on it. I know their Garmin will not do that, so if you want extra features it may be worth looking into Fitbit or some of the other brands. If you get an Alta, there are several third party bands for it. I prefer a watch band style with a clasp instead of the standard strap that comes with it. I ordered 3 for $15 on Amazon. It just feels more secure. Oh, and one of the best features is alarm clock. It will buzz your wrist to wake you. My wife loves that. I get up before her and she isn't woken up by an alarm clock going off every morning.

I wish the Alta had a HR monitor on it. I'd probably upgrade to that from my older model charge HR.

Bought my wife a charge 2 for Christmas. She loves it and appears to track all the usual stuff plus HR.

Let's bump this.

I'm in the market for something with internal storage (for music), Bluetooth, and built in GPS (to track running distance). Only thing I've found is the Samsung Gear Fit2. I don't care for phone compatibility (answering calls, reading texts, etc) as I only intend to use it during workouts and not be a douche that wears it 24/7.

I know I can use my phone, but I used to run a lot a couple of years ago and hated it. The phone strap would usually stretch with the sweat and the phone would eventually get full of sweat (don't want to trip the warranty sweat).

The Garmin Vivoactive HR hits all of your buttons except for the internal storage

My dad and I have the Fitbit Blaze...its terrific as a watch/activity tracker/ notification center/ HR monitor/ sleep tracker

We have both been very satisfied with the battery life and quick charging. It lasts us about 4-5 days.
