ATT Smartphone plan, pricing, next, etc... Maybe Verizon?

Sorry to totally beat a dead horse here, but I'm having trouble getting a straight answer from ATT. Shocker... Anyway, I currently have a iPhone 6 Plus and would like to get the 7 Plus.
What are my options? I am aware that the subsidized 2 year agreement is no longer an option, so I guess it's next or pay outright.
What I have currently:
Month to month ATT plan with 2GB rollover data and unlimited talk, text. I own the phone outright, and no 2 year contract. $60/month. If I get next does it simply add the $35/month to this or do I get lumped into some other program. Thats where the confusion from ATT is.

I do remember a year or so ago you could "still do that", but then they added an additional access fee or some bs to your account.

tmobile will give you a 7 for your 6+. Don't know the details.

So, ATT is offering $650 trade in value for all iPhone 6 models. This is paid over the course of 24 months at $27/month. So this is essentially a back end subsidy. Pretty solid deal IMO. I'll get the new iPhone 7 plus 128GB for $219, or about $9/month interest free. Can't really beat this.
I believe Verizon and others are doing the deal too.
