So I called yesterday to have them make an appointment to get my Internet set up for when I move into my apartment. 'Ole boy talks me into getting Uverse TV and Internet (I only asked for Internet) with the condition that they will waive the $99.00 Installation fee if I do both.

He also told me "off the record" that if I cancel the TV before the 30 days is up on the first billing cycle, I wouldn't be tacked on a $99.00 bill for installation (that was waived). That was my ideal plan of action, so I agreed.

Well I set up my online account today and notice theres a $99.00 fee for TV installation and a $99.00 & -$99.00 for Internet.

Did this guy frick me over? I mean, I still have time to change it..but is this normal?

the fee could show, but it may not be on your bill when it comes to be due?

not sure, possibly talk to them about it. hope someone else can be of help to you.

i think i've had a similar situation like this.. where the charge showed at first, but on the next bill it didn't.. but definitely talk to them about it.

Well I'm looking at the bill right now. I was told they would waive the $99 Internet installation fee. Technically they are right..and not lying. But man, how screwed up is that?

AT&T trains their reps to use so much misleading language it's pathetic. I don't even think the reps realize when they're screwing a customer over.

I just got rid of Uverse internet. It's slow because it has to run through old arse copper (phone line) in my neighborhood.

It took them about 2 weeks to come and connect it. Good luck!

They don't know. AT&T uses a marketing group who hires transient, practically homeless addicts to go door-to-door to sell U-Verse/DirectTV. I know because that company leases an office in my building and they make our building look like a halfway house

I'll be in the Kenner area, so hopefully it is good. I'm going to be pissed off if it doesn't work good.

I hate to break it to you but in my years on the Tiger Tech Board, I don't think I have ever seen anyone happy with AT&T internet. Especially if they left cable to head over to a slower crappier product.

Prayers sent. Cox cable will embrace you with open arms when you realize your mistake.

I hate Cox Cable, but their internet kills the local competition.

I await the Google Fiber overlords but until that day, I'll stick with Cox.

i really did not enjoy uverse tv. somehow im stuck with the internet another 10 months but i'll be getting rid of it then. although i have to say that since i turned off the router feature in their modem/router combo and bought my own router the internet has been fine.

I actually had ATT Uverse TV and Internet installed last month, but we have Gigapower here.

But wouldn't you fricking know it, Google Fiber opened up signups again just this week.

I was told in a chat I have 30 days. I can cancel before that and will have no termination fee.

I also got $49 waived for some stupid fee, the $99 for some stupid fee, but there's a $50 they can't do anything about. I'm going to try it out for the first month and see how it works.

I am good with ATT UVerse internet. It's very situational as it depends how close you are to their little hub (or whatever it's called). My house is only a block away so our speeds are good and such.

Anyways, I like ATT Uverse well enough.

Here a fee, there a fee, everywhere a fee fee.

Don't fall for the "I'm sorry, that's the best I can do" bullshite. They will even put you on hold and pretend to talk to a manager, then come back and say sorry again. They try to make you feel like they're working so hard for you, but that they just can't quite manage to pry $50 from AT&T and give it back to you. Of course they can do something about it, it's just money. They try to act like it disappeared. If you press hard enough, you can get what you want. They are just really good at tiring people out so they give up on it.
