Got a letter that it's now available in my neighborhood. Anyone have it? Did you bundle it with DirectTV or UVerse?

I'll believe it when I see it being laid in the ground. I've "had" it for 3 years now. They keep saying it's coming next month.
BUT it's a great negotiation tool for a cheaper price so I stay

I have it. I get 950+ mbps both up and down over a cat6 connection. Rock solid stability.

Just know that it is a GPON, what that means for you is roughly 2.1 Gbps down is split between up to 8, 12, or 16 customers. So just like cable, if everyone is trying to max out the connection at the exact same time, you won't get a full gig. But luckily for me I'm the only person on my node.

ETA: just note, if you are a torrent user, they have a NAT table limit that can cause you problems. And you can't overcome it by using your own router, because they don't have true bridge mode.

I'm curious about this, too. They have it in my neighborhood as well and I pretty much have to choose between AT&T, WOW or Xfinity for high speed internet. It's kind of like choosing which turd to put on your sandwich.

Hmmm...I didn't realize that ATT was already laying fiber in the ground in Lafayette.....this is good for you boys....more comp for LUS and Cox.

I hope ATT makes it out to us country boys sooner or later. For now I'm stuck with Cox ( ) for internet.

they are laying it in my neighborhood. being at it for a few week now. IDK when i can actually sign up for it.

Is this really fiber to the home since they are actually laying lines instead of the Fiber to a location the coax to the home?

Yes. I have the fiber terminating on the side of my house.

Hey were pulling in the cable to my next door neighbor's house on Monday. I didn't even realize we had fiber in the neighborhood until then.

If I am thinking correctly I think the fiber does terminate at a box like right outside your house.

I just want another option for TV and internet. Cox is poo and I don't want a dish. I am just not sure what services I could get from this.

This would certainly top the standard Cox Cable internet (not Gigablast). Now for TV....the whole game is in the process of changing for TV I think. Cox has yet to react to the OTT TV revolution. I think they are dragging arse to be honest with you. I cancelled Cox Cable TV and am now going with DirecTV Now....I couldn't be happier.

I am stuck with Cox Cable internet at the moment which is fine for my needs but more competition is always better.
