I've had my laptop about 4 year now and now my battery last about 30 minutes. I bought a new battery online and installed it but still the battery doesn't last. Tried changing the settings and same thing over and over. I have to leave the laptop plugged in for it to stay on it seems.

Any option left besides buying another laptop?

Are you on Win 10? When did you start to notice the decrease in battery life?

I have a Lenovo ideapad z570. I replaced my hard drive with a SSD when I upgraded to Win 10. I didn't see an increase in battery life that I was expecting from swapping to SSD. I think it might be something to do with Win 10 power management.

well, too late now

but they say to pull the plug on it a cpl times a month to "use" the battery a bit down to 5 or 10%

supposedly will add some life to them

as for replacements I've had mixed experiences...best was with ANKER from amazon

Letting the battery run down also helps calibrate the 100% and 0% points in the battery life monitoring software.

I did that when I first bought it, I would let it go until it died and then charge it, but this laptop is several years old now.

you'll likely not have much luck to resurrect the battery

I have FROZEN the laptop battery itself overnight
it gave the battery some life...but I'd say 2yr mark would get best results, meaning not much older than 2yrs

you can always try that just to see how it works...for the experience

best bet is another battery...
