most of these I posted pop up all over the web for way less, the point is, you can't call something "cheap" when things that do just as much / or more, are cheaper already.

(I do like the edit he made saying "relatively" - but the pricing has been the biggest snag point on the Watch so far, it's going to be hard to get away from the price points...)

Pretty sure the new pebble time can do everything except voice calls and communicate with siri.

I just get slightly irritated anytime I see a company flaunting an easier way for consumers to use their plastic cards. to many people get in trouble financially because of those cards.

It's not the cards' fault. The cards just slightly delay the inevitable financial trouble (and, yes, make it a bit worse, too).

But if companies promoting easier payment methods irritates you, then prepare to be irritated for the rest of your life. Things will always get more and more convenient, and lubricating money is very convenient. And for those of us who are financially responsible, electronic payments actually make it easier to watch/restrict spending.

I'm really just starting to follow the smart watch movement....but how integrated are these watches with an iPhone? I know that you have to download an app to your phone in order for it to work with the watches.

If the market already exist, doing the same thing, but you overprice it, I wouldn't call that "cheap" for what you get.

In the marketplace as a whole, yeah, it's overpriced. The Apple Watch Sport is "cheap" relative to the other Apple offerings. The one thing I've noticed from the Apple Watch compared with the ones that you linked, I prefer the display on the Apple Watch much more to any of the ones you've linked.

eh perhaps.

but it wasn't that long ago buying stuff on credit was frowned upon and this country was better off financially because of that

I don't mind being irritated for a good cause. and making people aware of how easy it is to blow through money they never touch, seems like a good cause. I would wager the group who can be responsible with credit and other easier forms of payment is much smaller than those who have trouble managing their finances.

Cards don't kill people, people kill people.

He's using the same argument that dems use against high capacity magazine, etc.

Considering that the pebble is compatible with over 6,500 apps and watch-faces, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the apps that were just announced today make their way over.

It is also easier to find and purchase things that are an absolute waste of money, regardless of how they are paid for.

I hear ya, but I also know people without credit cards or even a checking account who cash their entire paychecks every week, and blow through that money even though they touch every dollar.

I'm just saying your antifanaticism might be misdirected. A lot of people just have trouble with finances, regardless of the form of their money and transactions. I think personal finances should be a required course in high school.

i keep pointing out the LG G because the form factor (aside from the magic wheel thingie) is very similar to the apple watch.

will be intersting to see how the 2 compete. i know the newer WEAR devices seem to be going for that round look but since apple is not, i'll compare it to mine.

ETA also i've probably done as much as anyone with the "G" WEAR watch; rooted it, flashed a custom ROM, grabbed 'non market' apps, setup a home cam for my baby, set up WINK device control, use it as a GPS, etc.

This group of people must be very small

Agreed.

And that group of people are losing a lot of money to the credit card companies every year.

Only with Apple marketing: "All Day" means 18 hours.

What's the starting price of the non sport edition watch?

Heh,

My email to Jonathan Ive complaining about mid level Watch pricing just came back as undeliverable.

I emailed him a few months ago about the iPhone 6 sizes. That did NOT come back.

Nor did my email today to Tim Cook.

If they don't want to hear from their customers, they'd have private emails, no?
Apparently Ive's running for cover on this one.

Meh. The life of an internet troll is overrated. How hard is it to troll people about Macs, when most of the Windows lemmings that knee jerk have never even touched one?
