it's actually pretty easy to defend it. A similarly spec'd windows machine would cost about the same.

no, but you would have a world class animation work station. these are close to the machines that PIXAR uses.

Dom Deluise! I miss the old computer ads. The whole MASH cast hawked IBM, except for Alan Alda, who was the Atari spokesman.

No idea who the guy is but that's definitely an Amiga or some other Commodore model It was the first computer I ever used and it was already outdated when I used it (1990 I believe. I was only 5 so I don't remember too much)

Meh. It's a workstation. Every manufacturer has workstations that can cost a crap ton of money.

I don't like Apple but this post is just silly.

i'd argue kickstart and the multitasking kernel is a thing of beauty and arguably a more elegant OS than anything apple or microsoft ever designed.

all apple & microsoft did was benefit from moore's law so their shitty OS eventually was able to run somewhat smoothly.

eta i'll let another amiga fanatic (surely there's more than one of us) enlighten the tech board on the spokeman.

i've bought my share of $5,000+ Apple PCs in my life.

Too many in fact.

Its just funny we have a thread going on about a nice full-featured PC tower weighing in at $400 that can be easily expanded..then I go check out Apple and they're trying to sell me a $9,000 computer again like this is 1991.

I do distinctly remember selling Exxon 100 Mac IIfx computers in 1991..oh the comission I made that month

I think anyone would try to sell you a $9000 computer if they could, God damn capitalism.

The $400 computer and the Mac pro are sold to much different clients. It's nice to see you moved on from bitching about a $24k computer to the 9k one now.

I was way too young to appreciate any of that shite. I didn't know anything and my family just said "it's too slow" whenever I wanted to get a game for it or something. They were probably just lying like I lie to my daughter that youtube is broken today.

Don't forget the printer cable. Those are usually extra.

It does. I can't even afford the PC equivalent of a Mac Pro. All I have is this stupid thing:
