Tired of changing them every damn month.

The new trackpad is rechargeable with the battery built in. I invested in eneloop rechargeable batteries for my old trackpad. Also, I'm pretty sure the Apple Trackpad is the only trackpad that is made for desktops.

Nah, there are a few. Logitech makes one. I'm sure they won't feel the same as the Apple one, though.
Why not just eliminate the wireless aspect all together?
Having to change the batteries or recharge peripherals just seems like a step in the wrong direction. I don't know why people are so hell-bent on getting rid of wires in a desktop environment.

I'd love a wired one. Not issue with that. The wireless one is just what came with the Mac and have never changed it. Is there a wired one?

The new Apple Magic Trackpad 2 has a lightening port on the back -- you can keep it plugged into a USB power source if you want
