How can this be fixed? It started a couple of months ago.

Mine is fine. Whats your sat signal strength?

Menu>settings & help>sat & antenna>view signal strength

Mine has been freezing and I have isolated it to commericals and mainly inserted local commericals. I can usually change the channel or pause and fast forward and it clears up but it is a pain in the arse. The ESPN channels are causing the most problems. It seems to be a known problem that in some form or another for a year. I'm looking for a solution too because I've rebooting, did a software update, and CLEANMYBOX :\ I guess the next step is to contact DIRECTV....

There is a lot of sun spot activity going on right now. Also, as some else suggested, check your signal rate.

I have same pixelating problem, but only on my main DVR receiver (other 3 are fine)... right now i'm doing channel up then back down to fix it.

Very annoying... I will call them this weekend and see what they say about it
