Got a check to go buy a laptop for work. $250 is what I was given to work with. Any recommendations or any reliable sites I could grab one from?

$250? You're gonna be looking at something really cheap and basic

What are you using it for? What's your line of work? Do you need long battery life? What programs do you need? Are you storing large files? Etc etc

I bought a Dell D630 on Ebay from a guy in who refurbished ex military ones with new HD, etc. It was about 300 with a warranty. Good guy. I had a problem, sent it back and he put a new HD in it.

I teach, coach, and sell items on ebay. I have a desktop and an ipad already. I just need a basic laptop that can allow me to do basic work on the go or while i'm moving around. Maybe something my daughter can watch a movie on in the truck.

I don't need anything fancy at all.

Just go look at computers on Amazon, sort by review stars and price, then find the best option. You just need any laptop essentially

Edit: aren't you the tow truck guy?

Do not buy new.
Buy a refurb/off-lease. Here's a link to Arrow Direct's newegg marketplace store - ive filtered for W10 laptops under $300. LINK
Both the Dell Latitude and HP elitebook line are excellent computers.

I just picked up a cosmetically-challenged Lenovo Yoga 710 this morning at Bestbuy for $199.99.

If you stick to the refurb side you can find something legit.

Good thing for that budget is that a work laptop doesn't need much.

I recommend an hp or dell. HP is most usable out of box, especially the inexpensive ones. Dell to me makes best overall laptops. Toshibas are pretty good but not the cheap ones.

Definitely check for online deals. Check office depot. They have good online deals time to time for laptops.

Check amazon deals too. The “used” items they have are cheaper and usually people open something and immediately return it for whatever reason.
