Any suggestions for performance/ability to customize?

Is it worth it? (Looking to buy a new watch either way).

i've had one for a couple years.

its ok. if you pay more than $100-$200 you're doing it wrong.

if i was going to buy a new one today, i'd look for:
- mic *and* speaker on the watch
- wifi and bluetooth

wifi is huge because bluetooth dependency sucks because you cant set your phone down and go down the hall to do something and get notifications. wifi solves that.

what other questions do you have? its mostly useful for voice-calling (in my car) and voice command for music (again in my car) and getting the scads of notifications and phone calls SILENTLY (just vibrates briefly on your wrist)

I have the Huawei Smartwatch. It was recently on sale for $176 on prime day. It's the best of the current Android Wear offerings, but the new generation stuff coming out this fall.

So, my car has hands free bluetooth. If my watch is connected via bluetooth will I need to change that connection whenever I'm in my car?

Also, It seems like you can get a smartwatch (they all seem to have pretty much the same hardware) anywhere from $150 (Asus) to $800 (Hauwei). Do you get what you pay for, or is it just a brand name thing?

You can modify the settings for each Bluetooth connection to phone/media/whatever. So I have my podcasts playing in my truck but still use my phone for the calls

i have a $100 pioneer bluetooth head unit with a mic attached behind the steering wheel.

most of the time i toss the phone on the seat beside me and i'm too lazy to pick it up and enter the security code and scroll around for the contact i want.

with the watch i just flick my wrist slightly (dont even take my hands off the wheel) so the 'ok google' is listening and say 'call mom' or 'call joe' and in a couple seconds it makes the call through the radio.

its nice because it pauses the radio (if i'm streaming music through it at the time) as i'm using voice dialing then after the phone call the music resumes.

anything over a couple hundred bucks is JEWELRY, not tech. like someone said above, a new crop of androidwear devices is about to come out and the OS will take advantage of new hardware features so you may want to see whats coming before you buy.

Thanks to everyone for the input.

I think I'm leaning toward the Asus Zenwatch 2. I like every Asus product I've ever owned, I like the square face, and the price point ($150) seems like a good deal for my first smart watch.

looks like they have 4g antennas in them and can be a self dependent phone device.

My wife has a pebble smart watch she got from amazon. She really likes it and the various applications.

From my point of view the price was right.

Correct. It has its own cellular number and data plan and can work completely untethered from a phone if needed. I disable it though, i dont need another number to give out, i just do the traditional android wear where my phone sends the call to the watch.

One thing that I saw repeatedly when I was researching is that Google is reported to be releasing a Nexus line of Smart Watches as early as this fall. I would assume that would work well with Project Fi.
