Been looking around at cord cutting, I ordered the Fire TV box to dip my toes into the water. But during my research I found these android TV boxes:

Element Ti4
Overview:

Very powerful for the price
Never crashed or hung up in our testing
XBMC/Kodi pre-installed and setup
No software setup required
Very smooth when playing 1080p
Remote controls can turn the TV on and off

Matricom G-Box Q Quad/Octo Core XBMC/Kodi Android TV Box
Overview:

Beautiful box to rival any set top box. No need to hide this behind your TV
Best user interface I have used on one of these boxes
The Quad Core box is a huge improvement over the older version
4K video playback
802.11ac WiFi a must for streaming especially 4K
Comes with a good remote and a HDMI cable
2GB Ram and 16GB HD

These seem to be a bit more feature rich and more plug and play. Does anyone have any experience with these devices? They compare favorably in price point to the Fire TV box and seem to have more features.

There was just another thread here about those. You're basically paying for someone else to set it up for you.

I think I am going to go with a windows box next time. you can still run xbmc but still have access to flash based browser video without running into the annoyances I have when using the gbox that dont see when I watch stuff on my pc.

Yea but they are almost the same price as the Fire TV box ($99), Matricom is $109, Element is $120. For those seeking plug and play it certainly is a good option.

This stuff is getting confusing either way, my fire tv box comes in today so hopefully it is not as hard as it seems.
