It's free, doesn't have ads, and has a lot of customization options. Donating opens a handful of other options as well.
Not even textra gives this many options. What made me want to switch from the paid version of textra in the first place is there was no option to automatically covert sms messages to mms messages to prevent them from splitting up when sent to an iphone user.

Just tried it, don't like it.
For me, there is such a thing as too much customization. I know that may be ideal for others, but I love the simplicity and clean UI of Textra and I don't want to mess with trying to get this to resemble that when Textra does it by default.
But, if people keep raving about it maybe I'll invest more time into it. Texting apps aren't that crucial to me, finding the ideal Twitter app, however, took years.

just downloaded it a little while ago, so I'm still playing with it. maybe the search function opens up after donation?
It filled my biggest need with converting sms to mms so I'm happy. All the customization options were just icing on the cake. This app and handcent were the only text messaging apps I could find that allowed me to automatically convert sms to mms. Had been using handcent which was ok, but yaata is a lot better

How much customization do your text messages need?

Does it play nice with Swiftkey unlike Textra?

This has been fixed for about a month or so, make sure you have the latest updates for both.

What do you need this for?

Sending a long message to an iphone user the message is split up into separate messages and many times put out of order, unless it's sent in mms format.
I still get long messages split up and sometimes out of order when I receive one from an iphone user. Not sure of a setting to fix that.

I want a messenger that will take a group message and send them individually. My stock samsung message app does that but... it's the stock samsung message app

Keep going back to Fenix, which I think is the closest thing to Tweetbot we've got. There are a couple others I've tried in the last few months that are newer and seem to be closer to what I'm looking for, but nothing good enough to make me change.

Nothing. I just wanted to be a cool Tech board poster.

Cool. I wasnt being snarky. I like cool phone apps, even useless ones, just wondering if functionally I was missing something with the stock.

Nah. I figured. I really have no real gripe about the samsung messaging app. It works with dual screen and does okay. I felt like textra was just a little better looking as the samsung app has VERY limited customizations.

I'm only a few minutes in but I like Yaata so far. Thanks for the tip!
- can schedule texts
- I can easily call someone from their text conversation
- no search kind of sucks, but I'm switching from hangouts which doesn't have search either.
- the biggest plus for yaata over textra for me is the storage. Textra copies the messaging from the device so if you hoard sms & mms like i do, textra chews up some storage space b/c you have 2 copies of all of your messaging.
