My wife and I were thinking about buying the new Fire Stick to pair with our new LG Super UHD 4k TV we just bought, but I had some questions before I purchase it.

1. With the new Fire Stick (the one that has Alexa voice remote)...is it capable of streaming 4k content? If not, should I get the Fire TV box instead and if so, can you put Kodi on it?

2. What app will give us the most channels and have the easiest user interface to navigate? Kodi, Beast, Exodus, etc?

TIA!

You have to load Kodi to get to any programming.

A poster had this up the other day. I'm pleased so far. Not as buggy as the TV addons.

You mean hardwire the Fire TV box straight to the TV with a HDMI cable?

He means no WiFi. Straight Ethernet from the modem/router to the Fire TV.

Ok got it. So how does the Fire TV then connect to the TV? I'm assuming you use an HDMI cable and one of the TV's HDMI ports? Is the diagram below right?

modem/router---(ethernet cable)---Fire Tv---(HDMI cable)---TV

Correct. (Can't see picture on work computer)

If you do go with a firestick, you will need power for it also. They make a great adapter that uses a USB port on your tv for power. Just something to keep in mind.

You need to download es explorer. There's a tutorial in the cord cutting thread that has a YouTube video that takes you through the whole process. I have a word document at home that I may be able to get to you that helps a bit.

After es explorer, you use that to download kodi
