Amazon Dash Buttons: Anyone here use them?

It's a telling fact re: Prime Day that I bought a half dozen yesterday for less than $5 and bought only a single, non discounted item on Prime Day today.

But ¢.99 for each button with a built in $4.99 coupon the first time you use the button is free money.

Is anyone else a proponent or a user? I have heard some folks have hacked them for some things here and there as well.

Be careful of price swings. just because those paper towels are 3.99 the fist time you click it does not mean that they will not be 18.99 the next time you click the button. That is a literal experience by the way, not an exaggeration. Very convenient, but just be wary. Those every day items do not always have consistent prices.

I look at them all the time but can't really determine how useful they would be. Most of my consistent needs from Amazon come on Subscribe and Save.

I used to use several. Now I just use one. Its right above the dogfood bin. I click it when it gets low and it gets a giant bag of dogfood dropped off at my doorstep. Saves me from lugging it around the store.

Just bought the Playtex Sport dash button for my wife. Now she has no damn excuse to ask me to pick up tampons...

I'll spend a few hundred bucks to be able to voice command my TV to turn on, but the Dash buttons I just cannot abide.

Guy above is right. Prices jump around.

If you have young kids they love to push them as well.

This is good advice for anything on Amazon. I've seen the price of a product change 2 or 3 times in one day. Not huge swings like you mentioned, but $1 or $2 swings over a span of just a few hours.

I really love the idea, but without knowing the price of the item I wouldn't want to push the button, and it's hardly any more convenient for a person like me who spends significant time at a computer every day. I might be more inclined to buy some if there were a way for the button to show the price, but adding a screen would likely be cost prohibitive for Amazon.

Subscribe and Save and Prime Pantry are my friends in Afghanistan.

Subscribe and Save for items like razors, shaving cream, deodorant, etc...

Prime Pantry for snacks and food. DFAC food gets old really quick over here.

Just bought one for laundry detergent. Will stick it on the side of the washer machine so the wife can just press it when its low as opposed to making me order more.

Question:
Do they have “generic” Amazon buttons that can set up to order anything? I want to do it for dog food, but the brand doesn’t have a button. Same with our coffee.

Seems like a great idea, but my wife does all of the shopping for these types of items, and she's big on the coupons, so she's not a fan of the Dash buttons.

Laundry detergent, specifically, is NOTORIOUS for dramatic price swings.

I don't really give a frick, tbh.

Is there a generic amazon dash button that I can program to order anything on Amazon? Or are we limited to certain brands?

Booooooo

Why wouldn't amazon do a generic one for any amazon order? I feel like that would be awesome.

You could combine a bunch of different brands and items into one button, like a monthly supply of everything for the house and just press it.

negative. that's why i do subscribe and save. i don't have to do anything, stuff just shows up. and it's cheaper to boot.

some stuff on amazon tends to be significantly more expensive than in stores. paper products, laundry detergent and dish detergent are all higher. we'll get those at sam's. otherwise, i go with amazon for the 15% off subscribe and save discount, not to mention the 10% savings on sales tax.

When I factor in the value of my time to go to the bulk store and the gas it takes to get there and back, it seems like a wash to me.

I work a full time job and work on my masters at night. I'm a bit squeezed

yeah if i was that busy i'd definitely get everything on amazon. wife is at home, so she typically does the brick and mortar runs. i also hate overpaying for stuff. i tend to go overboard shopping for the best deal (online - never in store )
