I just signed up. I about to get screwed? I currently have a wired system on cellular. The are putting in a wireless transmitter, touch pad security panel and access on phone. I'm also getting indoor camera, Honeywell thermostat, 1 appliance control, automatic door lock. Only paying $65/month with remote access to the equipment. No installation or equipment cost. Sales guy didn't think they could integrate my wired outdoor security cameras but said I could buy some wireless ones and add later.

Yes. Cancel it. Smart home set up can be done for under $1000. Do the math of $65/month for however long the contract is. It will cost more than just buying yourself.

Good call. I'm stuck paying monthly for a basic security system. Went smart home on my own, I wish I didn't have the damn system now.

I recommend nest thermostat, nest cams indoor and outdoor, and nest protect. Grab a ring door bell, MyQ garage opener. You'll be right around $1000, buy in bundles.

Call and threaten to leave. They will reduce your bill by at least half.

I'm trying to decide what route to go with home security as well. This setup does not have any sort of alarm other than texting your phone, right? no door sensors or anything like that. Just trying to see if I am missing something.

Get a 2gig system. You will have a full security system and a Zwave controller for basic home automation.

Look into an Abode system. I haven't bought one yet but I'm strongly considering it. Looks like a good deal.

2gig is the brand of the alarm. In addition to being a security system it also has a Zwave controller built in that will give you the ability to control lights, locks, thermostat, etc. You can most likely find a local dealer in your area that will give you a better deal than that ADT system.
