Exactly 10 years ago today, on June 29, 2007, the original iPhone went on sale, six months after Steve Jobs stood onstage at Macworld Expo 2007 in San Francisco and told the world Apple was reinventing the phone, revolutionizing an entire industry like it had done with the Macintosh in 1984 and the iPod in 2001.

The iPhone, with its 3.5-inch display, lack of a physical keyboard, Apple-designed touch-based user interface, and multi-touch support, was unique among phones of that era, and as Jobs promised, it changed everything. The product that some speculated would fail miserably shaped the smartphone industry and made Apple one of the most valuable companies in the world.

Someone posted these pics on the OT thread:

The only noticeable difference between all those pics is the wallpaper.

And as far as I can tell, they still haven't figured out how to add a legitimate back button.

10 years of marginal improvements while scamming people out of thousands of dollars all in the name of "innovation".

Brilliant really

For the iPod touch. iPhone updates have always been free. Still it was pretty insane that they did it at all.

fricking icons are still the same except for minor touches.

Great camera though, give them props for that.

Funny they use to try and get us to buy firmware upgrades. LOL

Yeah I don't really get why they aren't taking huge risks right now to make massive changes to the most profitable product on the planet. Seems like they don't really know their customers.

At one point a couple of years ago, I went back and watched the original reveal of the iPhone. I was watching it on my computer. Steve Jobs walks you through the apps on the iPhone and that's when I realized they were all still there. The phone hasn't upgraded or changed significantly. It may be faster or bigger, but it is still the same old thing, really.

A lot of apps have come a long way since then.

Standard windows desktop hasn't changed much in a very long time as well. Windows 8 tried to change some things up and people had a gigantic hissy fit.

And my tech addicted buddy got one on this day that he had been waiting months to get, during his lunch break, brought it back to the office and was showing us and dropped it on the concrete floor, completely shattering the screen. He had it about 30 minutes.
