Sometimes it feels like there’s only room for four choices when it comes to web browsers on Windows: Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer. You’ll find some people running Opera, too, but for the most part it’s all about the big four.

Despite the seemingly small world of web browsers, there’s an entire alternative universe out there. All of them are fighting for your attention with unique features and specializations around new interface concepts, privacy, music, social media, and more.

If you’re looking to shake up your web-surfing experience, consider these 10 great browsers not named Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer.

Personally, I use Opera for 99 % of my web browsing. I use Edge for the other 1 %, which is to log in to my bank, USAA. For some reason, they don't support Opera.

This. But do you know how to retrieve them? It's easy, but I'm not motivated enough to do it. I don't dislike chrome or like another browser enough to justify the time.

ETA: just go to passwords.google.com

Didn't click on article, but the 2 I use are:

Opera
Vivaldi

They are both Chromium/Chrome based, but run much smoother and aren't the resource hog that Chrome is. Opera also has a built in ad blocker and VPN.

This is a bizarre article.

Compared to only one choice 15 years ago.

I tried Vivaldi back when it came out. I thought it was interesting, but at the time it couldn't pull me away from Chrome. I'm giving it another go thanks to this thread, and so far it's pretty nice. It feels a bit faster than Chrome (on Linux), has a lot more options, and it's built on chromium so my old extensions work on it.

I like it.

Alright, after several hours of using Vivaldi, it seems to be even harder on resources and battery life than Chrome. Pass again for now.

Brave is my new best friend. You can pull in bookmarks for Edge and Explorer but not Chrome, however.

ETA: Brave updated on 7/28/2017 let you import chrome bookmarks.

Netscape was around before explorer and Opera since 1998. Firefox since 2002 I think, which is 15 years ago
