Emerson Hyndman had a fantastic year with Rangers. I encourage everyone with an interest in the USMNT to watch his highlights.

I believe Sargent will sign with a team in Europe as soon as he's old enough. SKC has his MLS rights and have offered him a contract but he's turned them down.

I think I want him on the plane to Russia... Hopefully Bournemouth gives him some run in the Prem next season.

Sargent already trained with Schalke. They have a few of our players and they do a great job at developing young talent. But in all honesty, these kids look like they are already getting some top notch development. MLS and US Soccer have done a really good job changing the way these kids are coached and taught.
Here is a very good read. It's a three parter but really shows you how you are starting to see our youth teams and players catching up internationally

As good as the talent is right now it is only going to get better with time.

Double Pass and its plan to change US Soccer
quote:
The company that helped turn Germany into a world champion and Belgium into the current top-ranked team in the world is now working with the United States. Double PASS, an offshoot of the University of Brussels Department of Sport Management, is a group of the most detailed football auditors on the planet. By mid-2017, every Major League Soccer franchise and each member of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy will go through its process, which started in August 2015
How France is helping mold MLS Academies, coaches
quote:
The agreement allows MLS academy directors and coaches to complete the Elite Formation Coaching License, administered by the French federation. In 2015, the second cycle of MLS coaches began the licensing process to earn the equivalent of a UEFA Pro License for youth coaches. “Our owners have done a remarkable job in terms of their commitment and their investment in youth development, but one of the things that we were always thinking about was, how can we connect internationally?” MLS executive vice president Todd Durbin told SI.com. “How can we make sure that what we’re doing is on par or better than our international counterparts? By going through this program, it’s really allowed us to push our coaches to really benchmark themselves against the best development systems in the world.”
US Soccer overhauls its coaching license standards
quote:
U.S. Soccer announced a series of overhauls in coaching education and the structure of the youth game in 2015, which will begin to take root in 2016. The significant changes in licensing courses and new youth initiatives take from successful models around the world and, officials say, will eventually allow a uniquely American system that pulls the United States forward.
As good as the talent is right now it is only going to get better with time.

It's gotten a lot better since we really started focusing on MLS team-based academies circa 2007(?), but we still lack coaches in both quantity and quality. I view it currently as a case where these MLS academies are best used for getting our youth noticed so european academies can scoop them up to finish their development.
I think that will change though within 10 years as our coaching pool continues to grow.
