Laugh all you want. Jozy's just not the quality of striker I want.

Well he is the most technically-gifted and athletic one in our pool so...

Would you want to see Arsenal loan Zelalem out to a mid level Bundesliga side or a Championship level team?
absolutely not the championship. he'd have a horrid time there. it wouldn't be an easy transition, but stylistically, la liga suits him best. i think and want him to stay though. this could be his year to announce himself as a real one to watch with some spot first team action.

The next World Cup is 4 years away... Plenty of time to improve.

I'm aware of that. Thus:

Hoping either he can get better or we can find someone better.

It doesn't exactly work like that.
Altidore will continue to be our best striker in this cycle.

Yeah, just came to post it. Pep said he has plans for Julian and that he won't be available for the second team.

Well I'd say that is pretty good news.

Has anyone talked about Andrew Farrell yet?

But his bulking up will come with age
Hopefully. Will it be enough to break it into the first team at Arsenal? I don't know.

And Crowley is most def a very promising player. But everything I have read and seen, Zelalem is superior in his technique and first touch and all that, but Crowley has the physical advantage. And it sounds like people believe Zelalem is the more promising player due to the technical advantage over Crowley and that he will get bigger as he gets older.
I would definitely say Crowley doesn't have a physical advantage over Zelalem as Crowley is maybe all of 5'4 right now. Crowley's a quick little player, though. They both have their downsides, but they are our two most promising U21 prospects right now as far as I know. They are both technical players who can pick a pass, but Crowley is prone to dribble with the ball, while Zelalem is more about keeping possession. It would help if Zelalem would develop a left foot as he is ridiculously one footed.

I defer to you FOBUD. I stopped following Arsenal youth after the heartbreak of Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Benik Afobe and Chuks Aneke not working out.
I'd rather he develop into a DLP than a no. 10. We will always pursue/produce those types of players. DLP's are worth their weight in gold in my view.

there's no way this will come off non-dickish, but I'm positive I've watched Zelalem as much/more than anyone on this board, hell, even in the states.
I wouldn't mind him becoming DLP at all, considering Rambo has the B2B role on lockdown for awhile and özil has the no 10 role locked down for awhile. unfortunately, he hasn't played in that role yet.

Pretty sure you have. I loved him last pre-season, but I only recently watched some of his highlights. I see his future as a DLP because of his ability to protect the ball. It's so hard for a defender to nick the ball because he uses his body so well to shield the ball. I have no clue if he has the passing range, but I am assuming he does. If he can add the defensive work we need he'd be the perfect replacement for Arteta.
At the same time I'm pretty sure he can play further forward at the no.10 for the US if he ever plays for us. His vision is in the realm of Cesc and Ozil.

I watched all the preseason matches, every reserve match available on arsenal tv and a couple available on other club's sites
the two things he hasn't really shown is a shot and passing range. not sure if he lacks passing range or if he always makes the simpler, safer pass. never seen him try the Hollywood passes a lot of younger guys try.
