Gamboa is endearing himself to me. I'm almost wanting him to start for Celtic.

I want to know how shots on target this cup compares to previous tournaments.

Per game cast, another half without a save or a goal.

Edit: Apparently one save.

I have not been impressed with the quality of this World Cup. Reminds me of South Africa minus the vuvuzelas. The tournament has been a snorefest outside of Ronaldo going off and none of the top teams have impressed me at all.

A lot of it has to do with the bad officiating. When you let teams foul each other constantly it balances the teams out. Other teams take notice.

You can call it an excuse but its true. In basketball, a team gets to go to the foul line after excessive fouling.

Lesser teams in the world cup have no reason to quit fouling if the ref doesn't start throwing some cards. As a lesser team you can easily neutralize a better team by constantly fouling.

No, this is how the majority of African teams play, and always get punished by playing that way.

If you don't take advantages of set pieces, free kicks, etc, then it's your own fault.

At the very least I think that’s true against a team like Brazil. Keep fouling and disrupt the flow of their attack in transition and you can somewhat neutralize them. Eventually they will score, of course but it’s at least slowing them down and frustrating them.

You are assuming free kicks are being awarded.

Costa Rica hasn't committed a single foul in the second half yet.

Neymar has had all the space in the world this half. Hasn't done anything with it.
