I think unless the NFL does something about this concussion issue, potential young football players are leaving it to play soccer by the thousands. I think that's where soccer will grow the most is in a decline of football players. Not to say that soccer will take away from NFL or football being the most popular sport any time soon, but with more people educated about the game there will be more of a following.

Its fine and all to defend soccer but GTFO out that noise.

Nah. It's true. How is baseball more "manly" than tennis? Because it involves scratching your nuts and chewing tobacco? Because you can be an overweight average joe athletically and still be great? Please explain.

Its not true at all. I played both for years and years and you have no clue what you are talking about. You have clearly never stood in the box against a pitcher worth a damn.

Your worst fear in tennis might be rolling an ankle or getting tagged by a shitty doubles partner in the back.

Meanwhile in baseball some pissed off redneck might throw a 85 MPH pitch at your head b/c he's butthurt a dude didn't run the bases fast enough after hitting a homer.

You sound just as dumb as anti soccer tools right now.

I played baseball all through high school and had college offers. I love baseball. But you can play 1B, pitch, or be a DH and be overweight and out of shape, and be pretty unathletic by "NFL Combine" standards and still be very good.

which makes it equal to tennis in terms of manliness?

again, GTFO w/that noise and GTFO w/moving the goalposts.

and at acting like any DH or 1B worth a shite is out of shape and can't play. Even the fatties are athletic. Just like the fat arse linemen in football. Never mind there are tons of fat frick football players in HS that would be complete shite athletically by "NFL combine" standards.

You just have to be in better shape and a better athlete for Tennis. In terms of manliness both are level. Yea, granted the fear of being beamed with a fast ball, but it's not very often that happens. Through the years of playing, just like any sport, you get used to it.

ETA: On average

I'm starting to see the MSB's complaint that this board can get elitist as all get out.

ahh yes, the soccer board. Bitch about assholes shitting on your sport by acting like assholes shitting on other sports.

Baseball easily requires the least athleticism of any sport I've played.

Not necessarily.

There are a lot of people (especially on the men's side) that get away with living off a big serve.

Do you all need to demean another sport (baseball and tennis) to make your point here?

I mean, you're doing the same thing the MSB does to soccer.

Just let it be. If you don't get upset, the "soccer is gay" jokes will disappear. In fact, they already are. It was funny in the 80s and 90s and now it's just an old go to for people who are not funny. When people say it now, others just roll their eyes.

But, my honest assessment is this. Once America continues to get better people will accept it more. Americans hate losing and it's easier to just make fun of the sport than accept that we are not as good as other countries. We prefer to just say, "who cares" rather than admit defeat. It's just the way it goes.

Personally I'm not hating on baseball. I like it. Just being honest about it.

Yeah, but you don't need to even bring it up in an argument about soccer. Why even stoop to their level and discuss the 'manliness' of a sport. What determines a 'manly' sport anyways?

They are sports. All of them require different types of talent. That's why not everyone is awesome at them.
