What's your starting 11 look like for the gold cup?

GK: Guzan

Defenders: Chandler, Brooks, Alvarado, Johnson

Midfielders: Zardes, Bradley, Mix, Yedlin

Forwards: Jozy, Deuce.

The pace out wide combined with the overlap ability from the fullbacks makes this lineup hard to handle for anyone in the tournament. Zardes can be sloppy with posession in midfield but he's a terror in the final third. Make it happen Jurgy.

ETA: frick. Another thread posted as I was typing this

I like that lineup but I would start Bedoya and bring Zardes off the bench. He's good at adding energy to the game. Anybody know why Zusi is playing?? I like the guy personally but he shouldn't ever see the pitch with much better options on the bench.

I like your lineup however I would go with Beckerman over Mix. Not sure why Zusi got the start tonight.

Chandler and Zardes on the same side is begging for trouble. Chandler needs Yedlin on his side to cover when he gets lost and is not in the right position. Zardes is pretty good about tracking back, but he's definitely not as good defensively as Yedlin.

I would not be opposed to playing Mix on the outside either, but I think our midfield should be Bradley/Beckerman every time. They compliment each other so perfectly.

I'd still rather see Bradley holding and Mix at the top of the diamond. It won't happen, but it's what I want.

Bradley's passing was off last night in the final 3rd. He played 4 or 5 just awful passes. His runs with the ball feel awkward too. It seems like he is expecting to look up and have a lot more space in front of him but realizes he's right in the midst of the opposition defense. Then he has to try and play some impossibly precise pass through 3 defenders. He still has not settled into that CAM role after playing CDM for so long.

He was never a true CDM... he's a box-to-box guy, which is why he pairs so well with a guy like Beckerman who is mostly doing the dirty work on defense.

Paired with Mix yesterday, there were many times that Bradley was forced to track all the way back to the defending third. With Beckerman in, Bradley can get out into open space and start the break which he is so damn good at.

I agree with that if you're going for 3 in central midfield. He likes to start deep then break out and does a great job of it. Definitely agree that if he is the top of the diamond that Beckerman should be the CDM. I do still think that Mix at the top and Bradley at the base would be better against most teams in the Gold Cup, simply because we outclass most of CONCACAF, and it gives us more attacking ability.
