What sort of impact will Financial Fair Play have on clubs like City?

We just saw City buy a title for about a billion ... Financial Fair Play will (supposedly) curb this sort of manic spending.
So will a club like City just sell players to buy the flavor of the moment, making a revolving door of impact players that fans will have no time to connect with (a sell to buy model)? Or will they gravitate towards paying top-dollar for potential and doing more to develop somewhat from within?
It's hard to gauge I think.

Hopefully it will create more parity and in turn more races like we saw this season, but I have a feeling teams like City will find loopholes and end up sponsoring the stadium name for 100 million euros a year or something.

I didn't know asking an honest question qualified as Debbie Downer-ism.

save your honest question for the offseason when we don't have anything to talk about and stop shitting on the greatest day in city's history. thanks

I've given them due credit...even said that the money spent was money WELL-SPENT as they put together a team that meshed well enough to win a title. So to say I'm "shitting" on their day, well that's far from it.
What I'm shitting on are fans who only started supporting the club after the new owners and are acting like they've had years of suffering.

Can't wait until Bill Gates buys Sheffield Wednesday, invests 3 billion dollars, and leads them to an EPL title in 2016

i think city had a flurry to catch up and will temper the spending down. the first few years they missed a bunch and have gotten a lot better at signing quality guys who fit
chelsea had the same flurry and they've been relatively quiet once they got their core set. then they did buy torres, but i mean liverpool spent 35M on fricking carroll as part of that deal, too
in terms of payroll, city is going to shed some this offseason. i'll put a $5 bet they have a lower payroll to start next year than what they have right now

That's going out on a limb there, chief.

i mean if they get to a reasonable (for a big club) payroll then i don't get what's the big freakout
yes, it costs a shite ton to break into the elite, but once they get the roster set they're not much different than a man u or 'pool
there is no reason for a man u to go bonkers building a roster when they've had dominance for decades in building rosters

What's more amazing to me is how lackluster Man U's squad is despite having a massive payroll. They need to get rid of a lot of dross, as do Arsenal and Chelsea.

No, it's a fair argument and one when broken down I do agree with. I don't have in-depth knowledge of the workings of FFP so I guess my question is how far off is City in terms of complying?

While I was rash right after, as I do not like Manchester City, you can see that this was an honest question. And using City was an example of clubs who spend alot of money. This same question applies to clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter, A.C. Milan, Barca, etc.
In short, I have no idea why you're getting bent out of shape.

take a step back, re-read the OP and you'll see the tone with witch it is posted. once you see that, you'll see why i'm bent out of shape.

My biggest hope for FFP is that transfer prices come down. Real Madrid led a host of clubs overpaying for lots of players in the late 90's and early noughties. If prices can go to something reasonable it would be better for the sport overall. Some of the prices being quoted this summer point to that, but then there are races for really good players that will be around 30 million.
