Just wanted to read what you guys think about that call. Some people seem to think it was absolutely horrible, but I'm not sure I agree with that. I'm curious to see if anybody else feels the call was justifiable.

I need to see more replays/pics because I was fine with it, but others seem to fervently insist it was a bad call.

Could have gone either way but if the ref doesn't call it he has Arturo Vidal in his face really mad. I think I would rather piss off the whole Bolivian team than piss of Vidal.

Wasn't a handball and the dude from Chile should have been red carded for his bicycle kick to the face.

Not a hand ball in my opinion. I didn't think the Yedlin hand ball against Columbia was a good call either. Maybe I don't understand the rule completely.

It was the right call. I watched it live and called it immediately because his elbow clearly flared out unnaturally, making him bigger.

Slow mo showed it directly struck the bicep of the arm he flared out.

it was the right call, but there were plenty other bad calls in the match.

Replay of handball
I don't think it's a penalty. His arm is about as close to his body as he can get it (with the arm behind the back like that) and it appears to hit his shoulder. I think that's a very, very harsh call, especially so late in the game and given that it decided the match.

I think it's iffy. I'm fine with either way.

That's a misleading clip. It doesn't show the buildup so it minimizes the appearance of him flaring out his elbow, and that angle doesn't show that it clearly hit his bicep and not his shoulder. At least that's how I saw it after watching it live then in multiple replays.
If you stick out your elbow and then the ball hits your bicep, you deserve a foul call.

Both handball calls (US-Colombia & Chile-Bolivia) were the correct calls. In both cases, the player made himself bigger with the arm/hand. Whether or not either was a "natural position", they're both penalties.

Penalty because he flared his elbow out to make himself bigger. On another note that free kick was money.
