Wait wait wait. So who moves on and who gets sent packing can come down to a stickin coin toss?! There has to be some other more "on the field" kind of determinate...right??

(Of course we handle handle bidness and not have to worry about any such nonsense)

Tiebreakers in order-

1 - Goal differential
2 - Total goals scored
3 - Head to head
4 - Drawing lots AKA-

quote:

Worst case scenario. Also known as “screw it, we’re done using math things.” Never used to send a team home, but it has been done once to separate second and third place in a group (Ireland, Netherlands, 1990, both were already progressing to the Round of 16).

Very unlikely scenario but if Greece beats Ivory Coast 3-0 and Japan beats Columbia 2-1 then they will draw lots to see who moves on in Group C.

I went from drunkenly thinking the US could win the World Cup to being a bit nervous about advancing in about a second.

What a turn of emotion today.

So don't get blown out or let Portugal get blown out by Ghana

Yeah seems like theres a better chance of drawing lots in the USA's group than Greece scoring 3 goals ever.

Because Belgium has looked so good?. . . Not.

I would rather face one of the other 3.

Let's go for the draw Thursday. Nobody gets injured and we all move on to the group stage.
