stage if it finishes Group D in first or second place.
USA will finish in first place if:
It beats Nigeria
It ties Nigeria and Australia vs. Sweden finishes in a tie
It ties Nigeria and Sweden beats Australia by one goal
It loses to Nigeria by one goal and Sweden ties Australia
If the USA finishes first in Group D, the team would play the third place finisher of Group B/E/F on June 22 in Edmonton.
USA will finish in second place if:
It ties Nigeria and Australia beats Sweden
It ties Nigeria and Sweden beats Australia by more than two goals
It ties Nigeria and Sweden beats Australia by two goals, but Sweden has more "Goals For" than USA
It loses to Nigeria by one goal and there is a winner between Australia and Sweden
It loses to Nigeria by two goals, Australia and Sweden tie, and the USA has more "Goals For" than Australia
If the USA finishes second in Group D, the team would play Brazil on June 21 in Moncton.
The USA can also advance if it finishes as one of the top four third-place finishers across the six World Cup groups

if we win the group we play a 3rd place team from groupd B, E or F
Thailand finished 3rd in B, with 3 points

Costa rica in 2nd with 2 points plays undefeated Brazil, and south korea plays spain ,they are both tied with 1 point
it gets messy in F, all 4 teams still in mix, england, france, colombia mexico

Don't want to have anything to do with France or Japan. Both are good teams.

Yeah, dont want to meet Japan or France, even on their current form. Much prefer a Thailand or Netherlands.
