Between the defections and taking into account Soviet funding to Cuba stopped in 1991 when this generation would now hit their prime, this is not surprising. Cuba was never good at football to begin with, but their youth programs lost all of their funding with the collapse of communism.

Danny Williams plays in the Championship for Reading. They are nowhere close to being promoted, so his career is in stagnation.

I know Geoff wasn't with the team. Stoke asking to keep him makes sense but with the holes we have at RB, CB and CDM it would be nice to slide him in there.
BTW is Brek Shea still working on playing LB with Orlando? How is that going?

The Championship is as good as the MLS, that's not why he isn't here. He and Cameron both are dealing with niggling injuries and so they got the summer off. Zusi just isn't that good
