Damn. Almost a Yedlin to Shea goal. That would be sweet.

Offside by pure chance. Nothing of our doing. Awful marking

Obviously there were lapses and mistakes, but that was a pretty solid half in a new formation. I think with the right personnel and lots of game time this could be an answer for the USMNT going forward.

Agreed. Our personnel makes me wonder if we can pull it off. If Chile had Arturo and Alexis I feel like Chile def has more than one breakthrough

The offside rule is a bit obscure on how to determine being behind the last man (technically 2nd to last, but you know what I mean). Is it just any body part being behind the last part of the defender? Is it majority of body behind? Is it all of your body behind? Level IS onside though.

Your arm can't be used to judge offside, but everything else can.

I'm honestly curious. Where is that defined?

Offside is any part of your body you can score with.

Exactly. Unless you're Maradona.

Apologies, lads. I'd only read the actual wording of Law 11. I had not gone down to the definitions section.

Laws of the Game, Page 108
quote:

“nearer to his opponents’ goal line” means that any part of a player’s head,
body or feet is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the
second-last opponent. The arms are not included in this definition

Actually the best source is USSFs Advice to Referees book. So much more in detail.

I'm an idiot, okay? I acknowledged this. We can stop pointing out my failure to read.
