We would add a player at our biggest position of need that is the best in the league at that position. Yes, it would be monstrous!!

finishing up this match... I hope we get to see a lot of Grujic this season... Kid can be as good as he wants... very high ceiling... world class ceiling.. now whether he achieves that, is a whole different story..

His finishing could clean up, definitely... His work rate and decision making is fantastic as far as passes are concerned. We held a ton of possession today.

I have a theory about le affaire de Van Dijk and why Van Dijk has continued to stubbornly refuse any opportunity to conciliate with Southampton, and it is this:

Southampton claims to be injured and put upon by Liverpool's purportedly illegal "tapping up" of their player, Van Dijk.

Van Dijk, as a professional football player, knows for a fact that "tapping up" occurs all the time. He likely knows for a fact (probably through personal experience) that Southampton themselves have participated in the fine football art of "tapping up".

So the row that Southampton have kicked up about this probably strikes Van Dijk as not just an effort to embarrass and pressure Liverpool, but also an effort to publically embarrass and pressure HIM. And, as I said previously, if he has personal experience or knowledge with regard to Southampton's participation in the art of "tapping up", he probably considers their position to be completely and utterly hypocritical.

I have come to believe this because, from my observation, it seems that Van Dijk has come to point of complete disrespect and loathing for the team to which he is currently contractually bound.

As ugly as this has gotten, I still hope that it ultimately bodes well for both Liverpool and Van Dijk.

F**k So'ton.

Oh, and watching the replay of the Atletico match last night, Hendo's PK wasn't the horror my imagination had invented. It was actually a decent kick, it was just stopped by a pretty stout Moya back-leg save (while Moya was moving in the wrong direction).

So fair play to Moya and Atletico.

I'm still convinced VVD will be a Liverpool player by the end of the month

I think VVD will happen... He's dug in.. They would be stupid not to sell now.. just posturing for the fans..

Now that he's publicly stated his stance, I play more hardball with our offer..

I was expecting a blast over the bar, a la Charlie Adam..

It wasn't very good though and gets saved more times than not by the keeper simply guessing the right direction, IMO..

but its a penalty shootout in a pre-season tournament, I'm not bothered one bit by it..

So, Im not going to lie, my butthole clinched up a little with Neymar transfer rumors now official.

Losing Coutinho will hurt without someone like Keita coming on this window.

Maybe I'm stressing but the idea of Cou leaving is more real than ever and bringing Keita on seems like more of a pipe dream as the window progresses.

Talk me off the ledge. I think its worse case losing Coutinho. We have Europe this year...

Don't think it'll happen this summer... they tell him to stay a year and then join his buddy Neymar in Paris next year...

then fleece pSG... they don't seem to mind..

I hope you're right. Haven't seen much positive surrounding him staying on through this window. I know to take much of it with a grain but stil...

Really? Pretty much everything has said we're not selling no matter the price.

Only negative things saying like Coutinho's agreed terms have come from the Barca mouthpieces

we'll sell him to PSG next summer and then raid the Bundesliga for Keita, Pulisic, and Goretzka

Zero chance he's sold this late in the window, especially with us missing on Keita.

We drew Hoffenheim in the UCL playoff..

I know they lost three of their best players.. Sule, Rudy and Schar... not sure who they've brought in..

One of the tougher opponents, but we should handle them... at least I sure hope so..

edit: They do have Gnabry on loan

Could've had an easier draw, but if we aren't able to advance then we prob don't deserve to be in the group stages anyways. Apparently they have a real young energetic manager so should be fun to see him and Kloppo on the touchline

I'm envisioning it being a lot like the matchup vs Augsburg 2 seasons ago when we made our Europa League run
