Guzan has had an incredible season. I'm not saying he's as good as Timmy, but the gap is much smaller than it has been in recent years.

lol. I just read an article maybe on Ives? that said his injury isn't serious.

Guardian

What a nice picture they use:

Ives says two broken ribs in his back.

Would Jurgy even consider that?

I agree with what someone above said, Guzan has been really good this year, he's no Timmy but he's enough to get the job done

Friedel sounds like a German name, so maybe?

I realize both he and Marcus Hahnemann are retired from international soccer, but *if* Guzan were laughably bad against Costa Rica (like, Luis Robles/David Yeldell/Tony Meola's last cap bad), I'd be more comfortable with Hahnemann or Friedel in Azteca than a Nick Rimando or Tally Hall type.

May not be a bad idea to bring Hahnemann in as a "steady hand."

Guzan has been one of the better keepers in the epl this season. Friedel is long gone, Marcus hasn't played regularly since Reading were relegated from the epl several years ago.

Honestly, I think Guzan, Rimando, and Johnson/Hamid/Kennedy would be the best 3.

Wasn't Timmy within a couple games of the Everton consecutive starts/games played record? Either way, tough break.

He was Wolverhampton's best goalkeeper for a couple of years. He wasn't their youngest, though... so when your season is shot halfway through, they play the young guy.

Look, I think Guzan will be just fine.

BUT, if he has some sort of meltdown because of the pressure or something, I'd *much* rather trot Brad Friedel (or possibly even Hahnemann) in Azteca than fricking Bill Hamid.

When's the last time Guzan even got called up? Since we never seem to bother having him fly over if Howard is fit.

I see your point but I also think Nick Rimando would be serviceable after Guzan.

Hmm, I must just skim over backup goalkeepers... I just remember a period where we kept calling Hamid and Johnson as our backups.
