I have to second this. I went to a USA vs. MEX match at Reliant, and the view of the pitch was awesome from just about anywhere. Great venue.

I was there too. It was awesome.

How about up in the cheap seats thats the real difference, also you can sit much close to the pitch at a SSS.

You keep talking about logistics of getting to a stadium on a micro level, but what about the insane distances teams (and fans) will need to travel in Brazil and Russia. Those two countries are vastly larger, with less reliant intra-country transport, than USA. Id much rather take a 30 minute bus ride from downtown _____ to a stadium than attempt to travel across Brazil by bus or plane.

ETA: Obviously this argument is not applicable to smaller European and UK countries.

Brazil shouldn't be to bad but Russia will be a cluster frick even if the games are held basically in the western part of the country.

You had one 20 years ago, stop your fricking bitching and travel to one like everybody else.

If the USA gets one before the UK its a joke. Youve had your "heres a WC to try and get your ocountry into football" to get it a second time I think you need to be building more of a history. I think a revote takes it Australia, after all the reports are that this happened in the first place because they were worried about Australia. Who havent had one yet, and like the USA is a great place to visit with great stadiums to use...but they have the advantage of not having one before

Mexico has hosted twice. Hard for me to feel too bad about wanting another World Cup.

The conversation I was having was about hosting on very short notice not whether it could be done. Of course with proper notice the UK could host the world cup. It will require a good bit of scheduling and infastructure improvement. A rail system operating at close to capacity can't just move a couple of hundred thousand extra people around without causing some problems. Besides shouldn't you be trolling someone on the pol board right now.

.

Have you ever been to England or used their rail system? b/c it is looking like you have no idea what you are talking about. Trains im talking 12+ train cars run every hour to all corners of the UK from Euston in London. These trains move thousands of fans and travelers every day. Then you went ranting about the airports. The majority of non-Euro fans would fly into Heathrow, you know one of the biggest and best airports in the world. The rest of the Euro fans could fly into one of Londons 4 international airports then go from there.

Yes I lived there from 95' till 07' and still own a house in Norwich. I still visit my in-laws there at least twice a year as well. I have used the public transport many many times. Your 12+ car train will move around 700 people depending on seating arrangement so congrats you are 1.5% there. The logistics for an event like this are mindbogling. I do not think you understand how much capacity you would have to add to the train lines. Go back and look at the last bid that the UK made for a WC and what would be required it is avalible online. Don't take an anynomous persons word for it do the research yourself. Being stationed somewhere does not qualify you as an expert on that country just as I am not, the difference is I do not pretend to be one.

Ok so if they leave almost every hour from 4am till about midnight everyday getting fans to a city is not an issue. You keep ignoring the fact that thousands of fans travel these rails every weekend to the game and back in one day. In the group stage there is only 3 maybe 4 games a day.

The German rail system is very simlar and there was no major issues.

lol no

we are not a soccer mad country that will pack 75k+ for some random lower profile group stage game.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that this country isn't just made up of USMNT fans. Every country in the World Cup has expats here that would travel across the country to see their team play in the World Cup.

No but attendance is big on the locals. The majority of expats in our country are not from Europe and I don't even know if you can call central american immigrants expats. Why do you think games for this WC are not sold out. Even the best traveling fan bases ie England only get maybe 15 to 18k in a stadium while the rest hang out in the city and drink. Alot of tickets go on sale to the locals. They don't split the stadium 50/50. Host country fans get to buy tickets first well before games and groups are announced.

Will most the games be sold out yes.

When I went in 94 for a knockout game we got tix last min that were released to the public.

I still don't understand why people are talking as if 40-50,000 people are going to be travelling the length and breadth of the country.

You go and stay in the area that your country is based, the world has a bunch of idiots but if your group games are in Newcastle you aren't staying in London, just like if your game is in Florida you aren't staying in New York.

I don't get it either

like I said there are 3, 4 games max a day. People are under the assumption everyone travels like England, Scotland, Ireland or Germany(when they want too). Throw the US in that mix as well.

People would come to England to visit London, but again visiting fans stay where their team is, given the close proximity of the would be host citys there is no large travel required everyone would be within an hour of all their group games.

Heinz Field 12. SunLife Stadium There are a dozen more NFL stadiums that would be a better venue than Anfield, not to mention college.

Levi Stadium
New Minnesota Stadium
New Falcons Stadium
Everbank is being renovated

The US could host World Cup 2014 if Fifa called today and asked us to do it. No country in the world is more big event ready than we are.

The US has 74 stadiums of 60k plus

which is irrelevant

b/c only a select few can host games

Every host city from 94 other than 2 has a new stadium or renovated theirs. The Orlando site would probably go to Miami and the Rose bowl would still be used. We add 3 more to go to 12. Seattle, Atlanta and Denver.
