You're the one still propping up a completely arse backward system even in our darkest hours and I'm the one with the problem?

So a lot of people are giving you shite.

However, I'm not seeing anyone offering up any other solutions that would give the potential results that pro/rel in MLS could 10 yrs down the line for the USMNT. I mean it is a proven system.

I get why the MLS owners don't want it to happen, but shite as a fan why wouldn't we want them to bite the bullet and do it. Sure it might suck for a few years and the league may have to help some promoted teams (Lord knows the league is making a shite load of money with no benefits going to the USMNT whatsoever) but I say go ahead and rip that bandaid off and it will be better in 5/10 years.

Just spouting out "PRO/REL!!" At every opportunity isn't a real solution either.

The United States may get to Pro/Rel over the next 10-20 years, but you just can't pull a lever and expect it to happen. It will happen with the natural growth of the sport, which is ongoing.

The MLS is established and getting bigger/better every year. Then we need the second division to coalesce, which I believe is happening with the USL. USL is also working on a third division league as well.

Let all of that settle out and develop and the opportunity for Pro/Rel may be there.

But whatever needs to happen with the USSF and youth soccer and development in the country shouldn't be reliant on flipping the Pro/Rel switch y'all think exists. They can make changes and build around the current MLS structure with their youth academies as they are (and continuing to grow).

We've beaten this dead horse. No MLS owner is going to be ok with pro rel. I'm not opposed to pro rel but it's just not feasible any time in the next 20 years. DS has the forethought of a retarded goldfish on this matter so he insists on beating us over the head with it as if it's some easily attainable deus ex machina for all of US soccer's structural problems.

I still don't see what's stopping NASL or some other league from using pro/rel.

....find me an inner city kid at a "youth academy".

Many of the games current great were all inner city kids at one point and didn't have to pay to get good training in their youth....until that changes the current "youth system" will always be subpar in America. I get that the MLS is for profit....great. To have a U6-U12 system that is for profit is a damn joke.

No, it won't happen until the market demands it. Many of you (cwill i'm responding to you as well) play the role of the aggrieved citizen who won't vote because "what can one vote do?"

If you institute pro/rel, the youth structure issues will clear themselves up because the clubs will be forced to innovate in order to keep getting better and preserve their status. The clubs will do the work, which is how it is done in every other country in the world.

We are dramatically, hilariously underachieving with our national team and how MLS/SUM is run is at the heart of the reason why. That's reality whether you want to accept it or not.
