Not if you have a cap, just raise the cap in the new CBA with free agency.

That will prevent the big time owners like Toronto, Seattle, LA and both NYC teams from going overboard.

But eventually for this league to be top 5 (which won't happen by 2022 like Garber wants) Free agency is a must, along with clubs operating on their own then eventually no salary cap. Those three things will only hinder MLS in the long run.

I'm not sure Mix's problem was living in Columbus. That deal seemed pretty far along for the sticking point to be "oh...wait, I don't want to live there actually."
