This thread was a pure troll thread.
Not sure if serious??? Nobody has given an actual answer yet
ETA: I stand corrected, there are a few. Tim Howard is the only one I recognize though. How tall is he?

What other people said. NFL is purely athletically based. Not really any specific technical skills required. Soccer and basketball require both, but I would say soccer places a little more emphasis on technical skill. So it's hard to compare.
But, Ronaldo, Kompany, Skrtel (just off the top of my head) could make good NFL players.

I imagine a lot of them would be good slot receivers, defensive backs, maybe rb's if they can take the punishment. The height disadvantage does sort of limit them as far as the NBA goes
Most pro soccer players are much bigger than you think. Listed heights and weights tend to more accurate also, where in football and basketball they usually give them an extra 2-3 inches and 20 lbs.

I have. Micah Richards would be a beast at American football. Don't forget that Wes Welker was a great soccer player. He grows up in Europe and he a fantastic soccer player.

Messi could be an elusive running back.

And he's a slot receiver, seems about right

Just googled him, dude looks like he could be a legit RB or LB

In class 1A football. Walcott with some weight training would be a much better choice.

Literally, the only difference between Wes Welker and Landon Donovan is Welker's steroid and HGH use errrrrrr...... "heavy weightlifting regimen."
And Donovan is better with his feet, Welker with his hands.

Well I'm imagining Messi as he would be if he had been training for football his whole life (read: swolled up). Because if we're going to pretend the football players had been training for soccer their whole life, we also need to pretend the soccer players had been training for football their whole life. For whatever reason, people don't tend to do that when discussing these things. But I agree, Walcott has a lot more straight line pace.

I sure wouldn't want to be lined up against Daniel Agger. Jozy Altidore could probably play RB.

I'm doing this from re-call, but I think Welker was the MVP of both the football and soccer Texas state championship games. If he had never touched a football with his hands he would have been great.

The two Toure's come to mind. Yaya would annihilate some poor bastard.

True. Jozy has the size and frame to be a LB, though. He'd make a nice power back, too.
I think people overestimate the size of football players, and underestimate the size of soccer players. I am somewhere between 5'8" and 5'9" and I TOWER over Maurice Jones-Drew. Dude is short as frick. He's also jacked as frick. No way he is taller than 5'5". But you get my point. Not every NFL player is some 6+' tall specimen.

Put Jozy in a weight training program geared toward football.... Holy shite!

Hulk would probably make a good RB.

Ok he's an exception though. But your point does stand. The perfect size for a RB is somewhere around 5'10" 200-210 lbs. If you took these soccer guys and trained them for size and explosiveness like football players some of them could get to that size
