Sorry, I didn't catch that. I was more responding to the idea that facing Colombia and needing a result in South America would be anything other than a nightmare.

I hope we draw the group of death, win it, and ride the momentum through a few knockout rounds.

I remember how the US shocked the world by beating Portugal in 2002. Maybe we can do something like that two or three times in the group stage.

This is going to be a bitching tournament. In reality, almost all of the best teams from each region made it through. Egypt got dicked, but Ghana ripped them apart.

My initial faux draw of Spain, USA, Chile, Netherlands scares me, but frick it. Let's go.

In all honesty, if we lost in a group of death, I wouldn't be furious.

If we somehow avoided a group of death and choked in an easy group, I would be on suicide watch. And that is such a U.S. thing to do.

Waiting for the World Cup, which is by far my favorite sporting event is brutal every time.

Say that Stu Holden makes it back in time and makes the roster. Would the world implode if Stubear and CR7 were on the same field together? Is that simply too much sexiness in one place?

Croatia

I'm telling you that we would lose this kind of group. Tie Algeria, lose to Croatia and Uruguay. Suarez would murder our back line.

All of us, including the team, would be relieved to draw an "easy" group, and we will end up dicking around just like last World Cup.

Well in that case, try on my 1st Sim for size:

Italy
Spain
USA
Chile

If you lose the former draw, I think we really, really, really lose the latter.

I'm to the point now where we just need to take (pardon any offense) the "911 posture" and "Let's Roll". We need JK to put forth his best side and let the chips fall where they may. I think US "Football" is headed in the right direction. I just want to see marked progress from what we saw in S.A.

I agree. I think it's safe to say that there will be "Groups" of Death this go round.

We could very easily not make it through this group but I think it would be due to Uruguay and Croatia being very good teams more than the players themselves taking them lightly.

A lot fans like to go on about how we should certainly beat 2nd tier European sides like Croatia but I seriously doubt the players feel the same way.

I could see maybe more optimism about getting to the knockouts compared to some other draws.

However, it's tough to imagine our players taking a team like Croatia lightly when they feature players like Luka Modric and Mario Mandžukic with a supporting cast that almost across the board plays at bigger clubs than they do.

Whatever the case (results of the draw), this will be an exciting World Cup.

Parity has been growing, so competitively speaking, nobody´s a winner or loser, without playing the match.

That said, years ago, relatively obscure sides fought like hell, got draws, and even pulled off the odd upset.

There is nothing like the WC, it is absolutely fantastic. frick the draw, you can´t do anything about it, nor say you would have done better in another potential scenario.

ETA Lest yáll forget, Denmark didn´t even qualify for the Euro in 1992, got in because of the Balkan War, and WON IT ALL.

Pete Maravich weighs in his opinion of the negAmericans.

Of course Pistol Pete knew a thing or two about dropping huge numbers and not making the knockout tournament.

Give us some teams to play. Brazil, Netherlands, Iran, Ghana, Spain, Argentina, IDGAF. Let's kick this bitch off. I'm ready to whip some arse:

It's not like it can be as bad as 2006. I think that we've already managed more shots on goal. 2006 was like America's 1/9

ETA: Tied w/'98, anyway
