So, does the famous Jurgen youth revolution begin now?

Are we on the verge of transitioning to the future now with the likes of Zelalem, Hyndmand, Morris?

I believe Jurgen (if still the manager) should roll the dice now and early with young talented prospects. We need to throw these guys into CONCACAF games now. The US are a CONCACAF team and it will always be that way.

Bacon, Morris, Wood, Rubio, Gooch need to be given serious starting time.

Emerson Hyndman is 1000% ready to play for the USMNT. We need Bradley and Hyndman/Zelalem in the middle on a 4-4-2 (not diamond either). Bradley is a workhorse and should be able to go box-to-box as he sees fit.

Cameron Carter Vickers, Miazga need time now.

Gyau and Green are talented will be producing soon.

Zelalem isn't good enough to start on the U23s, what makes you think he should sniff the senior team right now?

Or because he was hurt

@JeffreyCarlisle
.@aaronstol Herzog told me on Thursday that Zelalem had a "muscle injury" and might not play.

He came off hurt against Canada and has been dealing with that throughout the qualification process

He looked like shite when he did play. Didn't even know he was on the field.

Talking about some muscle injury bullshite. Sounds like Zelalem needs to rethink his position on this team. Give him the old "severe word", Jurgen.

A youth movement without consistent investment from the clubs in MLS will mean nothing. Belgium, Germany, France, and others had a transformation within a decade because of top down investment. We need a lot of money to transform ourselves. We aren't going to get it so we will see what happens.

We're getting there. AUFC plans to start their academy in 2016.

I'm really hoping that the huge influx of money and popularity in the American game leads to companies going all in to raise the bar a bit. We already see companies like NBC and ESPN placing a high value on the sport as a product. If the MLS uses its insane amount of control to demand that clubs use this increased revenue to fund quality academy programs, we could see a real shift in the quality of the league and national team in the next decade or two. We're still a few generations from seeing the real impact of the slow increase of the sport's popularity here, though.

I feel like every two or three years, everyone's convinced that we have two youngsters on the cusp of breaking out who never do. The name Gedion Zelalem is one that I'm going to try to block out of my mind until he's with the senior team because I'm not sure I want to deal with the amount of irrational hatred he'll get if he doesn't turn into the Cesc that so many people want to label him as.

I've watched him more than that. He is never going to be good enough.

Should we get in to this again. You watched one fricking game and completely overreacted to slightly underwhelming performance from an 18 year old.

This is a problem everywhere. People who follow their club teams closely are well accustomed to it.

It does seem amplified when the USMNT is in such need of a couple of real elite players though.

For AS Roma, you begin to lose count of all the 16-19 kids set to be our next Totti or De Rossi. There's usually 3 or 4 hot new names every single year. If only the manager would believe in them!!!
The best usually end up being decent players for someone like Atalanta or Chievo when they're 25 years old.

One also continually gets a corrective to over hyping what it means for a big club to buy a young player for €1m for their youth system since every club buys a lot of them every year.
