Yeah ... well, he flopped on that one, too.

He got tripped a little bit ... and then he went into little bitch full-blown flop mode, as if he'd just been shot in the back.

There is a difference between a flop and an embellishment.

I think he was saying the Dutch pose a bigger threat down the road than Mexico does. You know, chess versus checkers.

I don't care how obvious of a foul it was/is, if I'm a ref and a player falls down like this...

I'm NEVER giving that call.

Then you would be a shitty ref and would have made a terrible call in big situation.

If you want to punish robben for embellishing the foul, card him. make the pk call, give marquez a yellow and give robben a yellow.

Marquez should not have lounged in. End of story. You know the modern game and the type and caliber player robben is. why take the chance. There were several other plays this game that marquez got lucky with a no call as well. he had it coming

As someone who used to referee, I agree with this sentiment. Not at 90'+, not at this level, not at this phase, not with everything on the line. No sir, I put that whistle in my pocket and make for the parking lot as soon as the game is over.

So you would intentionally not make the correct call?

This is one of the reasons players flop these days because a ref will not make a close call which is an obvious foul because he is more worried about the stage he is on and moment on that stage. Have balls to make the call if you see its a clear foul.
But if you want to take into account the moment and game, The ref (or you if we are going through this hypo still) made several no calls throughout this game marquez on Robbin that maybe should have been called. you have given the dirtiest player in the world more benefits of the doubt than needed or he deserves.

This is probably true but if we get through Belgium then the winner of Argentina/Switzerland (who I assume will be Argentina) we can beat just about any team.

I still can't get over the way it ended yesterday. I don't care, but damn Mexican fans must still be in disbelief.

Do you really think that if we beat Belgium and Argentina that i am worried about the Netherlands/ mexico winner?

Plus, if we are playing at a level that we can beat the likes of Aregentina, i would rather play a non-rival than a rival who is playing at a similar level.

I think the smarter USMNT fan would have wanted Mexico to lose so the players who could play for both countries would rather pick the one who has a chance of advancing.

No, you got called an idiot because you said that fouls in the box shouldn't be penalties. Also, if you can actually read, it was an admitted embellishment, but still a penalty. Oh and that is not even what this thread is about dip shite.

Used to referee? Oh, so you were some shitty HS ref.

Which is why you never had a chance to ref at this level. You clearly weren't good, especially admitting that you would intentionally make the wrong call.

Arjen Robben is an extraordinary talent, but I absolutely despise him.
