Interesting stuff on this one.

LINK

Highlights:

-Proposal would go into effect for 2019/20 season

-Football League would consist of 4 divisions of 20 teams each; would introduce League Three (meaning a total of 100 professional clubs up from 92)

-Targeted at reducing fixture congestion with 38-game schedule as opposed to current 46-game schedule by reducing midweek fixtures in a big way

-Clubs would have a say on where new pro clubs come from and how relegation would work leading into 2019/20 season

-Extra teams could be from National League or Premier League B squads

Something does need to be done about the huge number of fixtures. A lot still to be heard on this one and they don't expect anything of a decision until middle of next year at the earliest.

What say all?

Obviously there needs to be a change, I feel like this could be a decent starting point

Should make it easier for Newcastle to get back up...

I actually really like the idea

I'm on board with it too. The article also does mention other things that need a serious look such as getting rid of FA Cup replays, winter break, etc.

Promotion/relegation to the PL would stay the same, so the biggest question would be how to handle relegation in the couple seasons leading up to 2019.

Not sure I like the part about Premier League B squads. If you want to introduce B squads into the professional leagues like other countries, it needs to be for all pro clubs, not just the Prem clubs.

Yeah. What would happen to B squads of relegated teams? Seems like would be really all over the place.

I like it. It seems logical and orderly. The new clubs are a very interesting aspect of this shuffle.

They get relegated. I don't have an opinion about PL B teams, but in practice, B teams a lot less confusing than they'd seem.

Where would Premier League B teams be introduced? If they expand from 92 to 100, that's only 8 teams.

Also, how high will they be allowed to be promoted?

No idea and I don't think the FL teams would be in favor anyway. BBC article said 90% of the teams (63 of 72) have to approve next June. League Two alone would vote that down.

Like the rest of the proposal though.

I agree...if it were more than just 8 and only from the Premier League. But doing it my way would be breaking the system altogether.
