Per Sterling's agent the reason he left Liverpool was BR

Talk about kicking a man while he's down.
quote:
Raheem Sterling's agent says the Manchester City star should still be at Liverpool, claiming he would have shone under new manager Jurgen Klopp.
Aidy Ward, Sterling's representative, is adamant the only person he had an issue with during their high-profile fall-out following failed contract negotiations was then boss Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking to Mail Online on Tuesday, Ward said he was unhappy with the way Rodgers managed the England international.
quote:
He said: "Raheem could have stayed, he should be at Liverpool. I think for me it was like he was being told to be a good boy and sign a contract.
"In December I spoke to Liverpool and said we'll sign a contract if there is a buy-out clause - those clauses are now common practice. They said no to that. Then there was an underhandedness, there were sly remarks. In press conferences, Brendan told everyone Raheem would sign - why do that?
quote:
"I knew, Brendan knew and Liverpool knew there was an issue. Right now he probably should be a Liverpool player, but he's not and he's in a great place at City. I had no problem with chief executive Ian Ayre, for example. I have no issue with anyone but Rodgers. He had a massive job with massive funds. How did he do?
quote:
"Good coach, but as a manager I didn't like certain things about how he dealt with Raheem. Fifty per cent of the players would probably tell you Brendan is not a good manager but is a good coach.
"The new Liverpool manager probably would have been a great fit for Raheem. Passionate, disciplined in the right way, new ideas, not afraid of trying new things. He'll do great at Liverpool.
Talk about kicking a man while he's down.

Coward. Why didn't he say this when he left for City?

I think there is some truth to this, but not to this extent.
Sterling's agent is a piece of shite.
Sterling's agent is a piece of shite.

I just view this as cowardly. Kicking a man while down. Whatever to score some cheap sympathy points and deflect from a shitty spell at Liverpool.

Also talk about convenient timing.
Right after BR is fired and Klopp is brought in, and then Sterling bags a hat trick.

So why make this comment at all? Haha What a tool.

A lot of Pool faithful agree with this, and about multiple players. But the way agent and player handled it was piss poor. Always take the high road and prove your worth no matter the circumstances. I know its wwwaaaayyyy easier said than done, but Sterling became way too whinny about shite while doing a lot of nothing. Look how Sakho handled his situation. Perfect example of class vs trash.

Really doubting this. Sterlings attitude and prima donna entitlement might have lead him to Klopps shite list too.

When things are on the bright side at the moment, you can puff your chest out a little I guess. What a coward.

or he could have been turned into the next Reus.
Sterling is good at running and under Klopp thats exactly what players do a lot of.

Perhaps, but we will never know. Nor do I care at this point. Pool is where it is, and Sterling is where he is. And being a Pool fan, I have no problem selling a problem child when his stock is at its highest. I dont think we could have gotten more for Sterling.

So glad Sterling is gone

Aidy Ward saving face. Brendan was a dolt so I'm sure there's a bit of truth deep inside Ward's story

Bingo.
Ward's a dipshit, as most agents are.
Brenda is also a dipshit.
Truth is somewhere in the middle. Sterling has been a solid guy on and off the pitch in Manchester.

I think it was evident that Sterling was not happy with the way he was being used at LFC last season... It's a big part of the reason his productivity was down last season.
Not to mention, he was asked to be the man (LS gone, Studge hurt) and he wasn't ready for that...
I don't see the point in Ward coming out with this now, except to try and do some PR work for Sterling... But they handled the whole thing poorly, as well.
As soon as we hired Klopp, I thought to myself that Sterling is tailor made for his system... If we'd have cut bait in the summer and hired Klopp, he may still be here.. but he's gone and we got paid handsomely, so we move on..
edit: BR did do some good things for Sterling.. How many other managers would have given him a holiday, mid-season, to go to Jamaica and rest??

True. Although some might say it was a needed gesture after Brendan rode the young boy like Seabiscuit.
