I would take Ibra over Costa 10/10 times. And Verratti is just an incredible talent.

The irony is that most of the PSG stars were the first choice targets of EPL sides that ended up settling for someone else.

think not pushing harder to buy Verratti a year earlier than PSG did was the biggest mistake the current management has made and is somewhat bitter over the Rabiot tease this summer/fall.

As someone who follows Roma, I agree.

Going down to 10 men is no cause to give up.

I tried thinking of a rational answer, but don't have one.

Ibra is definitely a better player straight up, and it's not really close. However, I just like the way Costa plays. I love how much people hate him and he feeds off of it. It's brilliant.

I don't think he feeds off anything other than good service. He hasn't scored in his last 7 games, and is not nearly as good at creating his own shot as he was in the first half of the season. He's good enough, but is a real poacher. His attempts at winding up the opposition might be better served running the channels more.

He's not overrated by any means, but he is exactly what he is, a poacher who has no subtly when dealing with the opposition. I'd rather he focus on the football rather than doing something underhanded every three games.

I don't think we can underrate how much more cohesive PSG's midfield is. That is the real difference between the two, and it isn't even the quality of the players, which on paper is a push. It's more than aesthetic difference as well. The PSG midwild works as a unit, while Chelsea seem disjointed, and have looked that way for a number of years. The fact that they can seemingly get away with it in the league speaks to the tactical naivety of PL teams in general. Compare this Chelsea team with Inter Milan coached by Mourinho. That 2009-10 Inter team was so well drilled and able to transition from phase to phase because of a midfield fluidity, even though they had a player as problematic as Fabregas at the heart of the team (Sneijder). The problem is moving the game from one phase to another.

Well they didn't win either game anyway.

Our problem is that Ramires and Oscar and Willian are not good going forward. Pretty simple really, we don't have enough attacking quality in midfield. Jose doesn't trust Cuadrado enough yet so hopefully he can eventually become an option.

Our defensive lapses I can't explain though.

My opinion on who would go through wasn't based around talent, because I think it's neck and neck... But more so, I thought PSG has been an underachieving, mentally weak team... And I'd also give the edge to Mourinho, in regards to managers...

That said, congrats to PSG, and maybe this is them finally getting over the hump.. Something City has yet to do (in Europe)

Also, like I said earlier, I think I put too much stock in Chelsea's form, from the first half of the season... They haven't looked like the unstoppable force at all, the past couple of months..

The main reason they won is the reason that I was worried going into the tie. They have plenty of talent and this competition, and especially the matchup with us after last year, is literally the only thing they are playing for.

It's still certainly no excuse for Chelsea not to be up for it in they way that they weren't but it's a lot easier when you're only concerned with like 10-12 matches per year.

Well it takes a lot for him to trust a player. He's played his first team into the ground. Hazard already has 40 experiences this season with 2 months in the season left. He's relied on Costa and Fabregas to create the goals, and neither have done a very good job of it lately.

I've bemoaned our lack of depth and squad rotation from the beginning so you'll get no argument for me there.

I mean look at our bench if we need a goal. We bring on Drogba, and while I'll lover him forever, he is pretty much completely useless now. He's 37 freaking years old and is the only guy we have to turn to.

Dude, give it a rest. Congrats, you won. Now quit being a douche. And no, I'm not a Chelsea fan, so you can hold off on the inevitable "let the butthurt flow" reply.

This board hasn't been this fired up of a Champion League match since Madrid knocked United out of the champions league in 2013.
