At some point MLS needs NY vs LA, but these small market finals are still kind of cool, granted Portland are as popular as almost anyone in MLS

Still no apology from FCD over yesterday's massive frick up w/security checkpoints. Instead they put out a half assed release that basically blames the fans for not getting their soon enough. Somehow they think 8 metal detectors (2 per entrance) were enough for 20k people and that posting about the checkpoints on their website at 2pm on Saturday was adequate warning.
quote:

"With heightened security concerns worldwide, we enhanced our security protocol to include mandatory metal detector screening at all gates as directed by MLS. The safety and security of our fans is our primary concern, and to help manage the enhanced security measures, we opened gates two hours prior to tonight's match. We also encouraged fans to arrive at the stadium considerably earlier than a typical match

The enhanced security measures as well as the inclement weather conditions resulted in extended queuing at some gates, and we have initiated a thorough review of all our match-day security protocols so that we can provide an outstanding match-day experience.

We sincerely appreciate the awesome fans who braved the weather to support their team tonight and all season long. We encourage anyone who would like to discuss the situation to contact us at guestservices@fcdallas.com."

This is what happens when you don't show up during the regular season.

Why does MLS need NY vs LA? I mean they are already in the tank for LA with all these player transactions that circumvent MLS labor policies. Plus 5 MLS titles for LA. Screw that, let the small market teams be competitive which is the best thing for overall stability of the league.

frick that.

Its not what happens at all.

FCD had several sellouts during the year and has had many full house crowds over the years for soccer games, concerts, and football games w/lines like this never being an issue. I've been to several of them and have never had a single issue getting into the stadium. 4th of July matches, Galaxy matches, when Inter Milan came for a friendly... I'm sorry but this was never an issue until yesterday.

They fricked this up completely and want to ignore that they did.

They have NEVER had full on metal detectors before games and for them to try and act like they did enough to warn people by putting up the change on their website at 2pm the day before the game on Thanksgiving weekend is a fricking slap in the face, middle finger, and kick to the nuts all at once.

FCD ownership is such a god damn joke it hurts.

They don't need it I suppose, but its more marketable, that's all. If it had happened already then who cares, but since it hasn't, I think it would be a good thing for the league especially if whatever NY team happened to have high profile DPs at that time

Even so its hard to market teams when the league domestic tv deal is still in shambles.

The MLS bends over backwards for LA, Seattle, Toronto and the NY teams. Makes it even better when they fail.

Eh, not quite in shambles anymore IMO. I am of the opinion they should make all games available online through espn3 as they originally planned.

Anyhow, they've got the games on ESPN, it gets marketed, its got a consistent time slot, its time to quit making excuses for why people may not watch
