Is is just me?

It seems like every single MLS game I watch, there is a goal in 90+ minutes that either ties or wins the game. Its crazy how often this happens, especially compared to other leagues I watch.

So that begs the question, is there a lack of defensive skill in the MLS to kill off games. A lack of defensive subs? Adjustments? The counter attacks are so bad that the losing team can just throw even more caution to the wind?

It does make for an exciting league though.

It's just the style of most teams around the league and that is reflected in the games, especially the good teams. They normally play fairly open and don't pack 10 men behind the ball (unless they are playing at Sporting Park, or are Houston). Some teams are just shitty defensively, like Portland, but they also possess many quality players going forward that can provide a magical goal, like Diego Valeri.

Both Seattle and RSL play great football and they always put on a good show against each other.

Another factor is the parity in the league and that most teams are pretty even, and so there isn't a whole lot of bunkering generally (as I said before). There aren't 3/4/5 dominant teams that are going to control every game they play in, thus forcing every other team to try to sit back and only grab a point against.

It's fun.

Just as I'm reading this Philly gets a penalty in 92nd minute to draw with NY.

They were aggressive tonight and they gave up two silly goals at the start of the 2nd.

Immediately went back to sit back and defend.
