Newcastle United has today (Wednesday, 10th June) announced changes to its Board of Directors.
Head coach Steve McClaren, chief scout Graham Carr and club ambassador Bob Moncur have today been appointed to the Board, joining managing director Lee Charnley.
Mike Ashley has relinquished his position on the board along with finance director John Irving, who is leaving the Club.
Newcastle United becomes the only club in the Premier League to have its head coach on its Board of Directors, a move which the Club feels adds significant strength to it.

He still is the sole shareholder so I'm not sure how much of this is just for show, but I also know this can't possibly be a bad thing.

it will be nice to have someone who can actually work on fundamentals instead of just running glorified cardio sessions. I'm still very cautious about everything but I'm certainly more optimistic than I was about a month ago (not hard to do).
If they go out and spend 60 million pounds this summer like some sources have claimed that will be real progress.

Hey no worries at least you have the PSG bandwagon to fall back on right?
They'll blow 60 million out of the water.

I will say that this at least indicates that the club realizes what a perception problem they have right now with both the public as well as players/agents. I mean if you were a decent up and coming player with options like and Andre Ayew or something, why the hell would you want to sign for Newcastle and deal with that circus when you could just go to Aston Villa or Swansea or something?
The combination of these moves along with getting rid of Carver (there was speculation he'd be retained as an assistant because he has 5 years left on his contract) at least shows some movement away from the status quo.

Newcastle
PSG

I wouldn't put a ton of stock into the number projections. They're saying we're gonna spend 50M. I will believe either NE club spends like that when it happens.
