I understand why it was a red... can't go in two footed (though I think sometimes it can be very harsh)

He pulled back and barely knicked him. Everyone has an opinion I suppose but even the announcers said it was bad. Game and post-game announcers.

it comes down to intent vs the actual contact... trust me, I understand why you feel aggrieved...

edit: I think the bigger issue is Xhaka's history of cards and if Arsene can "coach" that out of him...

And that's the law of the game

If you kick out at someone and don't connect you can still be sent off for violent conduct

Well when you get sent off for a ridiculous red it's hard to coach awful referee bias out of referees.

You simply coach him to tackle with only one foot, not two.

It's a two footed challenge

That's always going to put you in the situation to be sent off.

Rojo should have been sent off for similar tackles

Then he will always be a liability on the field and once you get that reputation, many times you don't get the benefit of the doubt... right or wrong..

Anyway, congrats on your 3 points..

Saying a studs up two footed tackle isn't a red card is ridiculous

What was weird to me about the tackle was it looked like Xhaka went in half-hearted. The replays made it seem smoother but in real time I thought he tripped. Not surprised he got the red. I'm fairly sure Moss warned Xhaka and Defour when they had their little tiff earlier in the game and maybe he felt Xhaka was trying to get Defour back.

Yet Gary Cahill doesn't even get a yellow for headbutting a guy full force in the temple when it was clear he was never going to get the ball. But oh god Xhaka used two feet, gotta be a straight red.

Well two feet is usually a red regardless.

I know that's the standard rule, I just think it's dumb to be so strict regardless of the nature of the actual tackle in question, yet the standard wisdom is not even to give a yellow for what cahill just did, which in this day and age of concussion awareness is much more dangerous
