Manchester City 2022/23 Season Thread - CL or Bust

Transfers of Note:

In:

Erling Haaland
Kalvin Phillips
Stefan Ortega
Julian Alvarez

Out:
Raz
Jesus
Zinchenko
Fernandinho

Got some new blood. Haaland scores on his pre-season debut. We go again. Champions League or bust!

ETA: I got tired of waiting on the new thread so I started it. If we don’t win shite this year, we can blame it on me, because if my memory serves me correct, we have had relatively unsuccessful seasons when I’ve started these threads.

My man!

BTW: Turned down a nice offer for a general counsel position with a big construction company in Dallas. What could have been...

In.

Thanks OG. That little blood vessel was starting to quiver every time I opened this board.

—Bring the CarabGOAT back home
—Win CL
—Beat Tottenham Twice.
—At least 4 pts v. Liverpool.
—100 Pts.
—Go 5/6 EPL Trophies.

Attended the game in Green Bay. Was a blast. There may be more City fans in the States than in Manchester.

I think we win the Premier League again comfortably. By the end of February it will be a coronation tour of England.

I’ll go ahead and call it now. Haaland will be amazing; but, as the season wears on Alvarez will be getting more time. His work rate is astounding. All gas; no brakes.

Barring injuries; I think the breakout star of the season will actually be Grealish. Not for goals; but, racking up assists.

I kinda agree with almost all of this. I wanted to go to the Houston game but didn't like the idea of the venue. I have never been to a match so in my mind that stadium was too far removed from the action. I'm probably way off but I also would've been disappointed to not see Haaland.
I think we got better, LP got worse and Chelsea and Spurs will fizzle out by Christmas.
Starting to worry about Bernardo leaving and I feel like we are going to over pay for Cucurella.

Ref was going to let that one go. Once VAR got involved, it had to be called. We’ve all seen way less egregious hand balls called due to VAR.

Last goal was a garbage goal.

Handball was tough but it was definitely going to get called. The Trent goal hurt bc if Ake either gets all of his head on it or none of his head on it, I don't think the ball gets in the net. I'm more disappointed at the lack of goals...especially without Allison in goal. Oh well, it was a preseason game and LP acted like they won the Prem. Good for them.

Well looks like Cucurella has fallen through. City now linked to Joško Gvardiol and Sergio Gomez.

ETA: McAtee loaned out to Sheffield United.

I was there as well and had a hell of a time. Not a fan of either team but to be able to see this game in Lambeau was too much to pass on.

I’m getting more concerned about Bilva moving and I don’t want to see it.

Good start today.

I'm nervous every time Ake is in the line up.
