Sterling is playing as a lone striker and Shelvey is playing as a left back for our U21s right now.

lol wut.

Since when did this start happening?

Also, I assume its much easier for Raheem to play alone with much shorter opposition due to the age. Regardless, still interested to see how he does.

Wow... injuries in the rank??

I've been thinking bout Shelvey the last few matches and I think Im about to say we should move him on... not sure he has the temperament to take it up a level... but he is only 20 (21?)

Also, watching West Ham... i guess I still have a soft spot in my heart for Big Andy and maybe wouldn't mind seeing him as a 3rd striker a good change of pace, option off the bench... Is that sound reasoning or stupid sentiment??

Personally I like Shelvey more than Andy and I think he has greater potential moving forward.

Striker: Let's go after a Stevan Jovetic, M'Baye Niang, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or someone that has similar skill sets and talent.

I'm kinda tired of our small club tactics and I'm ready for BR to make splashes not ripples like Allen & Coutinho(<<<given he'll probably be better it's just I want to see the big moves for the big players that fit with us).

JMO I'd break the bank this summer for the likes of Mats Hummels

Of course I want Christian Eriksen as well.

Damn it where is our extremely wealthy Shiek to come and buy our club and waste billions buy EPL & Champions League titles

You know how unhappy and spoiled most of those supporters are from those club? Hell most are empty titles. I'd prefer to play and conduct ourselves on the values that Liverpool was founded on. We have 100000x more history than Chelsea/ManCity and I take pride in that.

We have had a bit of bad management/luck the past several campaigns but I think BR has us on a fantastic track to be contenders again.

ETA: I do agree with the players you stated though. Mats Hummels in red would be a beautiful sight to see

There is no way Niang is coming to us and I am not too thrilled by Aubameyang. Jovetic I would take in a heart beat. I have always had Jovetic in my Liverpool FM team since I first got the game in 09 so I guess I have a soft corner for him.

Hummels is another non-possibility, de Vrij would be great.

That kid Allesandrini looks like the next Kevin Gameiro but smaller. I am sure Lyon, PSG or Marseille are gonna try to lap him up next season, would be nice if we could get him as a backup. I know people might not agree but I have never been too thrilled by Borini or Allen (despite his classy form towards the beginning of the season). We also need a top, top drawer Left Back not Enrique. We should keep Enrique as a back up though.

I like their "effort" and I think Allen is a good player. I believe Allen was brought in because he got BR's system and BR wanted that stability in the early days... To me, he is a squad player/borderline starter.

Borini is a squad player to me, too... I see Fiorentina want him and I wouldnt be upset to let him go (offer as part of a Jovetic deal )

That said, they seem like good guys and arent on massive wages, though I think we over paid a bit for them.

Allen I think was an impulse buy by BR when he first got here and didn't know how to enforce his system. It did not help that we did not have a scouting department to consult, Dave Fallows et al being on Gardening leave. So I think he fell back on the only tried and tested solution he was aware of. And you know what happens when we really want someone. Other teams jack up the price and we get a$$ r***d in negotiations.
Borini was a fair price I thought since he is so young. You always have to pay more for "potential". But even then there were probably cheaper solutions that were as/more effective. But that is water under the bridge.
First order of business should be matching tiny tots man for man next season and then onwards and upwards.

No doubt and I believe there is some ego involved knowing he coached the guy and thinking how well the did in the EPL last year... Also, he went from a minnow to a shark in the grand scheme of things so a lot of this system has been a learning curve... from the transfer market to the play on the pitch...

I'd perfer to stay that way too ... but I'd like to have that purchasing power though then we could get the people we desire that also as I said

I think he has the potential we just need to get the players that will make him capable to do the things we desire BR to do and more importantly compete for the EPL.

A) why no Niang?
B) whats wrong with Aubameyang
C) Hummels is another non-possibility ... why, $$$?
D) So Gameiro is already 5'6"-7" and you're saying Allesandrini is smaller

I came again. But if somehow we were able/had the $$$ to get lets say Jovetic, Eriksen, true LB and a legit CB in the summer. I'd jump for joy but again I'd break the bank for Hummels, Gotze, Reus or Lewandowski but mainly Hummels or Gotze.

Damn just give me unlimited funds and I would mix the best Dortmund players with the best 'Pool guys and we'd have a champions League & EPL contender for sure.

A) why no Niang?

He just moved to AC Milan this year, and they are a massive club as well... That trident of Balotelli, Niang and Shwaaray (sp??) is very young and good...

C) Hummels is another non-possibility ... why, $$$?

$$ and no CL... This guy is Barca or United bound... Honestly, I'd rather go after Howedes that is prob 1/2 his price and just as talented.

Read that there were some pretty audible racist chants aimed at wisdom and some United guy got in Morgan's face. I assume you watched - did you see any of this? Seems a bit too over the top to be true for a U21 game.

The mancs claim their fans were singing "scouse bast3#d" but it sounded like "bla2k bast3#rd" when Sterling went down. I was watching on a sh**y stream couldn't really tell. They did throw a red flare on the field. They also booed Sterling when he came off.

@McRebel

Hummels is touted around a lot. Given that I do not see him coming to us at this point of time. I really wish our fans start being realistic. We have been mid to lower-mid table for the recent past. It is not going to be easy for us to attract top talents. This is the rebuilding phase it is better we do not set ourselves ridiculous targets only to be disappointed when they do not materialize.

About Aubameyang. Just personal preference I like Jovetic better. About Allesandrini being bigger/smaller than Gameiro. Stop nitpicking dude. I don't follow the Ligue 1, I saw Beast's video, liked the dude's technique and thought he looked like Gameiro in playing style but smaller. Hence "looks like" not "is".

I get all that and this makes a lot of sense. Especially with Hummels.

I understand we are in the rebuilding phase and it will take longer to get where we need to be. It's just I ready for that time, as I know many of you are as well, when we are able to through around those type of names and have a legitimate shot to land one if we so choose.

quote:

Yeah I understand and I like Jovetic better as well.

Look I'm not really nitpicking as much as thinking aloud. Yeah I saw the vid and liked him as well but I like to keep it perspective with his size. One thing about the EPL IMO that is unique to me is how you have to couple size with technique. So I thought it was importnat to mention.

Also to further this thought ...

quote:

I really wish our fans start being realistic.

I understand this sentiment and to some extent agree but still this is just a message board where we can speak of our pipe dreams and wishes for what our club could be ... NO SHOULD BE. I understand the reality that we face but at the same time is it really too much for one to hope that there is a better place for the future, I say no it's not. Honestly I believe BR has moving in the right direction but I still await the time when we are mentioned, in the now, with the likes of ManUre, Citeh, BVB, Bayern, PSG, Inter, Milan, Juve, Barca & Real. When we are the threat everyone is watching out for and till those days are here I will yet to be satisfied, but that's just me & to each his own.
